Marriage can be brutal. There are peaks and valleys during any long-term relationship, and for celebrities, they seem to be far more predisposed to falling off of the pedestal we’re all guilty of putting our relationships upon.
There is a trend among marriages in general these days. Once upon a time, divorce was completely taboo — especially when there were children involved. Couples were expected to stay together through everything — from adultery to abuse. There were no excuses. Even a victim of domestic abuse would be ridiculed and shamed for trying to leave their spouse.
Slowly, we grew to accept that not all unions were healthy, and some families fared better post-separation. However, we’ve now grown so accepting of that mindset that we have lost the sanctity we once held for family units. Have we made single parenthood sound so empowering that we’ve lost sight of why two parent-families are best?
Living one’s life in the spotlight certainly adds more pressure. Celebrities do appear to be more likely to divorce than the average couple. That new trend we’re seeing? People are no longer staying in relationships for the children. Rather, they seem to be in them just to procreate and cut ties in some cases. While many likely fall apart under the pressure of adjusting from a hot and heavy couple to a life as practical parents, what are we teaching future generations? The same thing we’ve been teaching them. When the new wears off, we throw it away.

It wasn’t necessarily Gwen and Gavin’s three children that broke up their marriage; it was the regretful three-year affair that Gavin had with the kids’ nanny. Since then, Gwen has moved on to a new partner, and Gavin hasn’t — as far as we know. Maybe — in an offshoot way — if there weren’t children, there wouldn’t have been a nanny for him to mess around with? Things that make you B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
Rossdale certainly isn’t the first celeb Dad to play ring-around-the-bedroom with the nanny. Calling all Jude Law-wannabes… There should be a hard and fast rule that once an affair is longer or equal in years to the number of children the couple has, there are grounds for divorce. What was Gavin thinking? Didn’t he listen to any of her music? She ain’t no hollaback girl!
14 Janet Jackson And Wissam Al Mana — Prisoner Princess Of Pop?
Apparently, once Janet Jackson was pregnant with her billionaire husband’s — Wissam Al Mana — baby, everything changed. According to her brother, Randy Jackson, Janet was made to stay in their house and verbally abused — among other things allegedly — although none of this came straight from Janet herself.
But the abuse and the fact that Janet, once a mother, was no longer allowed to leave her house is what caused the split to happen. The baby was three-years old at the time of the divorce and has been part of the ongoing custody battle in the United Kingdom.
The divorce and custody battle is on the down low, and Wissam Al Mana — being a billionaire and all — can probably buy all the privacy from prying eyes like ours and the paparazzi. Also, if it doesn’t work out in his favor, he’ll probably just buy another wife and baby.
13 Tiny And TI — Total Chaos
Tiny and T.I. were divorced after their first child was born. Then, they got back together and had two more children. Yes, apparently some people do that in real life. This pair —most of us are not really sure who is Tiny and who is T.I. — have seven children between the two of them. For real! Seven! The other four were from previous relationships.
If they aren’t together because of the complications of having children, or that their family life is complicated, it might be out of sheer confusion in general. If this isn’t a shining example of a disposable Hollywood marriage, we’re not sure what is.
The couple regularly makes their way into the tabloids. Rumor has it that cheating allegations have been brought against one another on more than one occasion, and the kids are growing up in an allegedly dysfunctional household full of bitterness and arguing. Sounds lovely!
12 Christina Milian And The Dream — Nightmare Of A Marriage
Christina Milian and The Dream split from their ten-month marriage when their daughter was just five-months old. It seems the origin of the split was when The Dream was photographed in his assistant’s bed. Pictures of them surfaced while they were on a cruise together looking like two lovebirds.
It appears she took the assistant part of her job more seriously than anyone thought. Milian found out about it the same way everyone else did… on Snapchat. The Dream doesn’t seem to be owning up to anything, though. Even after the pictures and the divorce, he just says his only mistake is not saying anything to the public sooner. Maybe Milian is better off not having an example like that around for their child. It looks like Daddy is too busy building his legacy to care about being a parent anyway.
11 Ciara And Future — The Future Doesn’t Look Too Bright
No, that isn’t a typo, the couple’s name also makes a great subheading for this blurb. Ciara and Future’s child is two-years old, and while they had a very swift and intense public romance, a few weeks after their son was born the future wasn’t looking so great for them.
They got matching tattoos on their hands (didn’t they learn anything from Brad and Angelina?). Future apparently cheated on Ciara during the time that they permanently branded themselves with one another’s names multiple times with multiple women.
Forever might mean something totally different to Future. Those matching tattoos came right off of the pop princess wifey’s fingers — just liked her engagement ring. She has moved on to another guy while battling over custody with her ex. Baby’s future hangs in the balance. Only time will tell.
10 Kelis And Nas — A Nas-Ty Divorce
According to Nasty-Nas, when Kelis got pregnant, he claimed their marriage was already on the rocks. Supposedly, it had nothing to do with the soon-to-be arrival of their son. It’s unfortunate that celebs seem to look at the products of their flings as dollar signs, or even ways to defame their exes.
We rarely see celebs stay together for their children, or even stay amicable for their children. There is no substantiated, publicized reason for the Kelis and Nas split. Infidelity, money issues, and personality flaws could have contributed. It may be a mixture of all of these reasons.
They’re definitely not staying together for their child, but grown adults can do what they want. This is a free country. Nasty Nas still sees his baby, and is fully involved in the rearing of his child, although baby mama, Kelis is in his rear-view mirror.
9 Keshia Knight-Pullam Beating Her Sweet Feet From Ed Hartwell
Ed Hartwell is thanking his lucky stars that Claire Huxtable is not Knight-Pulliam’s real mother or attorney. Knight-Pulliam and Hartwell’s marriage was over mere days after the baby was born and Knight-Pulliam claims that she hasn’t received a dime from the NFL Player, despite the fact that she has had financial hardships having to turn down roles given she’s caring for their child.
We aren’t here to judge, but there are plenty of single mothers out there who work hard and don’t wait for a role. Sure, they shouldn’t have to, and parents should pay their child support. But, yeesh! Is the baby a pawn in all of this? Possibly. If only Hartwell ran as fast on the field as he did from his ex-wife, maybe he’d have a better reputation as a responsible father.
8 Shar Jackson And K-Fed— Third Baby Mama's The Charm
Maybe they’re a happy family — like the Brady Bunch on crack cocaine. Still, explaining Kevin Federline’s family dynamics is complex. Victoria Prince is his current wife and Baby Mama Drama number three for Federline — who may have gotten the most recognition for his marriage to pop princess Britney Spears — his second wife.
Federline has two kids with Prince, two other kids with Britney, and another two with Shar Jackson. The engagement with Shar ended shortly after he met Britney. We aren’t sure if any other reasons have been made known for the parting, except it seems Kevin loves being a baby daddy and a father.
From his tweets, it seems as though K-Fed is happy, and a good dad with all his kids together and getting along. The public is still trying to figure out what Federline does for a living and why we care.
7 Mel B And Eddie Murphy — Daddy’s Running Late
We’re not sure if this relationship counts as a break up. Upon hearing the news of Mel B’s pregnancy, Eddie Murphy immediately requested a paternity test to prove he was the father of the child she was carrying. The test did just that.
He helped support the baby financially, and later was more involved in their daughter’s life. Mel B is divorcing her current spouse — producer Stephen Belafonte. Although Belafonte has been there longer in Mel B’s household, she doesn’t want him to be part of her daughter’s life. This is apparently because the reason she’s divorcing him is due to domestic abuse.
Eddie Murphy is publicly — and perhaps financially — assisting Mel B with the court proceedings so that Belafonte is not included in his step-daughter’s life, nor receiving any visitation with the young girl.
6 Kim Porter And P-Diddy — More Like Pro Daddy
Kim Porter and Sean “P-Diddy” Combs, had a set of twin girls together. Combs discovered from her own personal investigating that five months prior, P-Diddy had another child from another woman.
Kim Porter knew because she was told by a close friend, but she didn’t let on to her baby-Diddy that she did. She was waiting for him to tell her. Eventually, he did tell her, but not until after the twins were born. As expected, they broke up.
Kim Porter has tweeted that she lost all respect for Sean Combs, Sean P Diddy Combs, Diddy or Puff Daddy, P-Diddy, or whatever you want to call him for not being a man and taking responsibility for his mistakes. It’s okay, Kim. If a man is changing his name that often, that’s a sure sign that it’s time to move on.

Tyga and Blac Chyna had baby together, and then split shortly after baby was born. Blac Chyna had other things to do and was younger than Tyga. These differences are what broke them up the first time.

Now let’s fast forward a little bit to Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian splitting in a similar series of events. Some say Chyna had it planned from the beginning and just wanted to cash in on that Kardashian loot. As soon as baby Dream was born, she was gone.
Tyga and Blac Chyna are back together today. Kardashian had grown fond of her child with Tyga, too. Does anyone else feel like pointing the wagging finger at Chyna through all of this? It seems like she has Tyga’s money, and that Kardashian money, and possibly someone else’s money.
4 Rob Kardashian And Blac Chyna — She’s Trying This Again
Rob and Blac Chyna have been publicly off and on again somewhere around four times in their relationship — the last being right before their baby girl was born. Reportedly, Blac thinks he’s too depressed and sad. She can’t handle being with such a downer.
We don’t actually know if there is anything of substance to what she thinks about most things since she hasn’t really ever done anything substantial, but, there seems to be an amicability between the two, or maybe they’re back together again for all we know.
In the long run, we tend to pedestal people who don’t actually create or do anything. They are just famous for being famous. She is back together with Tyga currently, but then again, it’s Monday and life is hard when you’re an ex-porn star.
3 Hilary Duff And Mike Comrie — A Happy Divorce?
Actress, Hillary Duff was married to Mike Comri, who used to play professional hockey. Once they had their daughter, the marriage crumbled and they divorced quickly claiming an amicable split.
Although the two are not together anymore, they only have nice things to say about each other. The two co-parent their daughter and did not have to have any kind messy custody battle.
Duff and Comrie are very much in each other’s lives as friends and parents. Realizing they were better friends when they weren’t married, they became better parents as friends. It seems these two have found a rare symbiosis that helps the both of them. Most of all, it’s wonderful for their child. This is a rarity in Hollywood, and it’s breath of fresh air we readily welcome.
2 Brandy And Robert Smith — A Wholesome Ending
Recently, Robert Smith stated that his marriage to Brandy was a publicity stunt to assist her wholesome image. He claimed he was forced to lie about it when Brandy got pregnant. He said he was involved with another woman when he fathered the child with the songstress and in a much more serious relationship with someone else.
Smith said their marriage was legit so that Brandy wouldn’t have to be seen as an unwed mother who was having sex outside of marriage — or something to that effect. He claims they were never actually married in any legal fashion.
Real or not, their nuptials were over shortly after their child was born. Brandy denies Smith’s denial, and in turn, the couple is pretty much in denial. On the upside, Smith supports his child financially and remains and involved participant in the child’s life.
1 Miranda Kerr And Orlando Bloom — Daddy Gets Served
Miranda Kerr served divorce papers to Orlando Bloom because he got served by a Romanian waitress in a hotel room while on holiday in London. Afterwards, Bloom — known for his role as the handsome elf, Legolas in the Lord of the Rings trilogy — sleeps with a waitress. Bloom and Miranda Kerr — a Victoria Secret model — divorce when their son, Flynn, is two-years old, but not for lack of trying.
The relationship had been rocky from the start and it seems that Miranda had been seen with Justin Bieber — and Bloom with Katy Perry — after the waitress. Bloom was severely depressed after the split, and was an absent father for a little bit. Nowadays, he has seemingly come out of his funk, and is involved in their son’s life, as well as taking on more roles now that their son is a bit older.
