To say that we're not all hypocritical at times would be...hypocritical. Nobody's perfect, famous or not! However, most of us don't have our little (or significant) slips in integrity circulated to the world at large via the Web.

These celebs are under the spotlight and all of them have displayed more than a little parental hypocrisy over the years. Most of these stars are controversial people in general.

Some stars on today's list rose to fame just by virtue of having famous children. A few seem to sell out their famous kids for quick bucks. Others are prone to addiction...or guilty of creepy oversharing.

They're all different. The only common thread is that their statements about their parenting values don't really seem to match their parental actions.

When words and actions disagree, it's a red flag. With these celebs, the red flags are often waving in the breeze!

From Britney Spears to Tom Cruise to Jessica Simpson's Dad, Joe, to Lindsay Lohan's Mom, Dina, and beyond, today's line-up of scandal-prone stars talk a lot about the meaningful beauty of parenting. Do they really mean it?

On the other side of the coin, how many of us would stand up to this type of public scrutiny? These famous people live their lives under under the watchful gaze of the paparazzi and they're fodder for a million blog posts, website articles, YouTube videos, TV stories and newspaper articles. We follow their ups and downs, but they have to actually live through the drama.

Parenting is not easy. Everyone fumbles. Do these celebs fumble more than most? That's for you to decide!

15 LaVar Ball Gave LaMelo A Lamborghini

Levar Ball is the star of the family-style reality TV show, Ball In The Family.  He was a college basketball sensation at Cal State Los Angeles and went on to become a practice member of the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets.

His pro basketball career was brief. Now, he's exposing his kids to the limelight via his popular TV series. He has three sons, named Lonzo (he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers), LiAngelo (call him, "Gelo") and LaMelo (who LaVar feels is going to be the biggest b-ball start in the whole clan).

When wild-haired wild child LaMelo, who's a big star at Instagram, turned sweet 16, Dad gave him a shiny, powerful and costly black Lamborghini. That's a lot of automobile for someone who's just learned how to drive! Levar believes that his children should show respect, but giving them "one percenter" perks may just teach them entitlement instead.

14 Did Kris Jenner Leak Kim K's Tape?

What can I say about Kris Jenner that hasn't already been said? She's always there for her kids, but her Kardashian empire may be constructed upon on a shabby foundation. According to the book, Kardashian Dynasty, by Ian Halperin, Kris was the one who spearheaded the deal for the leaked, 2013 adult tape, which featured Kim and singer, Ray J. However, the deal was allegedly done with Kim K's full approval.

I think that most parents would be emotionally unable to broker this type of deal. They just couldn't do it. If the story about Kris' role in the deal is true, she's unique as a mother. Most of us are trying to protect our kids, rather than putting their most intimate moments out there online.

If her daughter wanted Paris Hilton-style fame (this is the rumored reason why Kim wanted the adult tape released), I guess Kris was just trying to please her daughter. It's still pretty warped, though...allegedly.

13 Ashton And Mila Tell Their Kids That The Family Is Poor

Is dishonesty the best parenting policy? Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have an estimated net worth of 255 million bucks. However, they've made the decision to tell their little kids that they are poor, because they don't want their children to grow up to be jerks.

Their fears about raising spoiled kids are justified. However, lying to children sets the stage for serious trust issues later on. The kids are going to learn soon enough that Mom and Dad are loaded.

Also, Ashton and Mila have created a new tradition whereby the kids (daughter Wyatt and son Dmitri) don't get Christmas gifts from them. Kind of a bummer.

Time will tell if their parenting philosophy works out for them. It's a safe bet that Ashton and Mila have seen what money does to Hollywood kids. They're trying to minimise the odds of problems later on. The problem is the lying. It's not like lying about the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus.

12 Is Tom Cruise Avoiding Suri?

According to recent reports, Tom Cruise, who is now 55 years of age, hasn't seen his daughter, Suri, for four long years! Apparently, Katie Holmes wants to get Tom and Suri together and she's been trying to make it happen, but she hasn't succeeded yet.

This is a strange situation. Tom has time to see his daughter. He has sufficient funds to travel to her if he isn't in the same city or country. Also, he used to be photographed with Suri constantly while he and Katie were still a couple. Tom was the epitome of the lovey-dovey Dad in those old photos. He doted on his baby girl.

So, what the heck happened?

Is it bad blood with Katie that is holding him back? While the divorce was ramping up, Tom gave a deposition and admitted that Katie had left him to get Suri away from the Church of Scientology.

11 Joe Simpson Has Creepily Overshared

Joe Simpson sired Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson. Clearly, his role as father to the stars is a huge part of his identity. This is illustrated by his Twitter handle, @papajoesimpson. Now working as a photographer, Joe used to be a minister, who gifted daughter, Jessica, with her very own purity ring when she was a twelve-year old.

I don't want to be too hard on Joe. He's a prostate cancer survivor who underwent radiation treatment in winter of 2017 to become cancer-free. However, in the past, he's made some mighty inappropriate comments about Jessica, such as this truly unforgettable and disturbing statement:

“She’s got double D’s! You can’t cover those suckers up!”

It's true, Jessica does have large breasts and they can be hard to hide, not that they should have to be downplayed. However, when I consider conversations with my own father, I can't remember any comparable comments. I can't remember comparable comments because my Dad would never say anything like what Joe Simpson said. Would your Dad?

10 Dina Lohan Partied With Lindsay

Lindsay Lohan is someone who went off the rails. Young Lindsay reminded me of Drew Barrymore in that she was a cute and talented girl who soon become a Hollywood casualty, thanks to lax parental supervision and other factors.

Drew pulled herself out of the abyss and I admire Drew. I hope that Lindsay does the same.

Now, let's talk about Lindsay's mother, Dina. In March of 2007, Dina said that she played a sisterly role in her daughter's life. Her views on parenthood were printed in a Harper's Bazaar puff piece. Unfortunately, she chose to go to parties with her daughter regularly.

Many people thought that Dina appeared intoxicated while she spoke with Dr. Phil (and side-stepped tough questions about her parenting style) in 2012. Dina denied being drunk on The Dr. Phil Show. She said she was edited to appear that way!

Lindsay hasn't really calmed down too much. She's had big drama with her Russian fiance, Egor Tarabasov, whom she accused of being a cheater via social media just last year. It's hard to say if Lindsay would be as troubled if her mother didn't act like a sister.

9 Hulk Hogan Is Very Physical With His Daughter

Paparazzi shots of Hulk Hogan and his blond daughter, Brooke, showed the former WWF Champion rubbing sunscreen into the back of his daughter's upper thighs. She probably asked him to do it, but it still looked pretty bad.

In the past, Hogan has been called out for posting sexy shots of his daughter via social media and he's gotten pretty upset over some of the hate that he's received on Twitter. Hulk thinks that he should be able to be proud of his child without being portrayed as a sicko.

His daughter Brook has defended her father. She feels bullied by the haters and says that there's nothing perverted about her relationship with the overly-tanned, ultra-brash wrestling legend.

If Brook is OK, that's all that matters.

Hogan has had his troubles. He sued Gawker for releasing an adult tape which featured him as the leading man. He won the lawsuit, thanks in part to a "secret" helper who stepped in and covered all of his legal bills. The benefactor is Peter Thiel, who is a tech billionaire. Thiel has some issues with Gawker, too.

8 Kate Gosselin Is Into Control

Kate may just be the poster girl for parental hypocrisy. She put her babies on TV for years to drum up some cash. Children probably don't benefit from this type of public exposure during their formative years. While a toddler isn't going to care if a big camera is pointed at his face while he has a tantrum, the man that the toddler becomes later on may care very much about it.

The morality of  pimping out the little ones on Jon & Kate Plus 8 and Kate Plus 8 is something that's been discussed to death. It is what it is. Whatever damage has been done to the kids is something that can't be undone.

Kate is aggressive, brash and harsh. She has her moments of being warm and sweet. She told an ABC News talking head that she would "go to the ends of the earth to get the best for her children". However, more often than not, it seems like everything is all about Kate.

7 Courtney Love Has Often Crossed The Line

Courtney Love and Frances Bean seem to be doing OK right now. They are in each other's lives again and that's good. At the moment, they're working together to try and stop Kurt's suicide photos from being released.

While their relationship is calmer these days, there have been times when the relationship was turbulent. Frances has gone through periods of her life where she needed distance from her mother. Courtney has struggled with addiction and Frances has had to watch it. That's on top of losing her talented father before she ever had a chance to know him.

Courtney used very hard substances while she was pregnant and this was exposed in Vanity Fair Magazine, to the great rage of Kurt and Courtney. From that point onward, Courtney was condemned and often still is.

What's really hypocritical is that Courtney Love went on Good Morning America in June of 2017 and talked about the normal childhood that she had tried to give Frances. There was really nothing normal about it!

6 Is Michael Lohan A Destructive Force?

In a 2006 interview, Lindsay Lohan made remarks about her father, Michael. Her comments characterized him as someone with serious addiction issues who was very destructive and sometimes violent. Her anger at him is often interspersed with moments of raw vulnerability. These two have their issues, for sure.

It's kind of rough for Lindsay that both of her parents are a little bit loco (allegedly).

If the people that you grow up with aren't on an even keel, you probably won't be, either. There are exceptions, of course, but Lindsay Lohan isn't one of them. She's a product of her upbringing and genetics.

Michael Lohan is a bit too devoted to making money off of his connection to his famous daughter. It's gross and he should stop. Also, any Dad who says, “She’s a beautiful girl but she looks 100 years old,” to the mass media is not putting his daughter first in any way.

5 Has Britney Spears Gotten It Together?

Britney has posed with her sons quite a bit in the "glossies" and she's talked about how she's the most happy while she's at home with them. That may well be true some of the time. However, Britney does struggle with mental illness.

Her father, Jamie, is handling her finances today, following her epic meltdown back in 2007. As well, Britney's former bodyguard, Tony Baretto, said he saw her neglect the kids, get drunk in their presence and abuse narcotics while they were under her care.

There's no point or value in stigmatizing someone who is mentally ill. They need real help from people who know how to treat their mental health problems effectively. These days, Britney seems to have pulled herself together. Her in-house Vegas show, Piece of Me, began in 2013 and it won't end until just before the New Year. Those shows require a lot of hard work and focus.

I think Britney was sexualized too young. She was famous at too young of an age. She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. Hopefully, she'll have a happier ending than Marilyn did.

4 Is Jon Gosselin As Bad As Kate?

My idea for a new reality show is, "Jon and Kate Plus Hate". These two have been at each other's throats for years in the press. When one parent is ripping the other apart publicly, and the other responds in kind, it's not a good situation for the kids.

While troubled relationships with exes are something that a lot of people have, most people's relationship woes aren't all over the Internet. The Gosselin kids have been exposed to so much from such a young age.

In 2016, older Gosselin daughters, Mady and Cara, who both turned seventeen this month (they are twins), said that they don't want to see Dad anymore. Jon says he's going to focus on the kids who do want to see him and that he never knows which kids he's going to "get" when it's his turn for a visit.

It's hard to say who's worse...Kate or Jon. They used to seem like opposites, but maybe they are just too much alike.

3 Alec Baldwin Is A Spaz

Alec is a hothead. He spazzes regularly. He makes his own rules. This is a guy who threw a fit because he couldn't continue playing "Words with Friends" on his phone during a flight. Also, his voicemail tirade against his "pig"daughter, Ireland, is the stuff of legend. During the angry voicemail, he also made sure that Ireland would tell her own mother that Dad wants Mom to "go [eff] herself".

These days, Alec plasters his Instagram page with cute baby pics. He's settled into domestic bliss with Yoga queen, Hilaria Baldwin. People do change, but do they change that much? Or is Alec doing consistent damage control and image management (which is likely doomed to failure because he just can't control himself)?

Right now, Alec feeling the heat over comments he made about the Harvey Weinstein scandal. He seems to speak before he thinks. As a result of his Weinstein comments and the response that they got, he deleted his Twitter account on Nov. 4th, 2017.

2 Did Caitlyn Plan To Trash Kris In A Book?

Reports indicate that Caitlyn Jenner got on Kim Kardashian's bad side by planning to write a memoir which trashed Kim's mom, Kris Jenner. Kim does show a lot of loyalty sometimes, such as when she defended Kanye West after the release of "Famous"...and shamed Taylor Swift in the process.

Clearly, Kim is loyal to her Mom, too, and she didn't like what her stepdad (Kris and Caitlyn are now divorced) was plotting.

In April of 2017, Caitlyn told Diane Sawyer that she speaks to only two of her kids. This is surprising, as Caitlyn (then Bruce Jenner) used to dole out parenting advice to Scott Disick regularly. Bruce told Scott that it's important for a Dad to be around.

Big life changes sometimes alter the family dynamic. Bruce's transition to Caitlyn may have been the catalyst for rockier family relations. However, Caitlyn's son, Brody, has said that he thinks Caitlyn is a better parent than Bruce was.

1 What Does Bristol Palin Really Believe In?

Bristol Palin spoke about the value of abstinence. She then became pregnant. She stated that she didn't want sympathy or lectures. However, she must have realized that she was going to get both, if only from the media and people who post comments online.

It seems like Bristol got on the abstinence bandwagon just because it made her look good. Her mother, Sarah Palin, is also image-oriented, but also makes strange faux-pas that tend to rip her carefully-constructed image to shreds. The two are clearly alike that way!

If you believe in abstinence, believe in it. It's fine to have values. However, expect some backlash when you don't practice what you preach. Bristol probably felt pretty foolish when she announced her pregnancy, especially after she'd accepted a whopping 265 grand to work as an "abstinence ambassador" for the Candie's fashon and footwear band! Oh well, we all make mistakes.
