Ever wondered what it would be like to be a celebrity? Sure, the lavish lifestyles they lead sound appealing, and it wouldn't suck to break bread with Ryan Gosling and Leo DiCaprio annually at the Oscars, but how would it be to have one's private life constantly shared and scrutinized, most of the time without approval?

The details of the lifestyles of the rich and famous are often broadcast far and wide on entertainment news programs, in gossip magazines and all over social media. Some stars aren't shy, and welcome the world into their personal, private lives. Others wish to keep their time in the public eye and their private lives separate from each other.

Being a public figure can be particularly difficult for the ladies. All a female celebrity has to do is eat a big lunch, and everyone begins to speculate she has a baby on the way. Usually, by the time a pregnant celeb reveals she's expecting, the whole world is already aware, or at least pretty sure, she has a bun in the oven. How, then, do some celebs manage to make it through an entire pregnancy, and often the deliveries of their babies without their baby joy being discovered? Some turn to baggy shirts and big handbags, while others just stay out of sight until their pregnancy has passed.

It may surprise you to learn that the 15 famous folks on the list below were able to hide their pregnancies, surrogacies or plans to adopt a secret for long periods of time, some even right up until their babies arrived and beyond. Pretty impressive, ladies!

15 Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes and her beau Ryan Gosling were able to keep Eva's pregnancy with their second daughter a secret until just one month before the baby was due to arrive. The two are known for being mum when it comes to their private lives, so this one isn't really that big of a shocker, but it's impressive nonetheless. Mendes and Gosling are the proud parents of two daughters: Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee.

After her second child arrived, Mendes shared of the couple's choice to give their second daughter the same name as their first, "My grandmother’s name is Amada, and Esmeralda Amada is the name of our oldest. We had a few names picked out for our new baby, and when she was born, we didn’t feel like those names were her...I actually told [Ryan Gosling], ‘This is common in Latin culture, so it wouldn’t be crazy.’...When we looked at her, we thought, ‘Aww, Amadita.’”

Of her experience so far as a mother of two, Mendes said, "My little one is still an infant, and right now it’s really about surviving those nights and trying to enjoy this time as much as possible with them, and start the bond between Esmeralda and Amanda."

14 Alexis Bledel

Alexis Bledel and her husband, Vincent Kartheiser are known for being uber-private. We're not sure how they pulled it off, but Bledel was able to make it through an entire pregnancy and the delivery of her son without anyone outside of their inner circle being the wiser. One of her Gilmore Girls castmates was the one who spilled the beans about the news of her new arrival, most likely without her permission.

Scott Patterson broadcast the exciting news of Bledel's secret baby to the world in an interview with Glamour magazine when used the M word (mother). Gasp. He said of making another season of Gilmore Girls for Netflix with Alexis, "It was great to see her. She's really blossomed as a woman and now she's a proud new mother and married and happy...We're comparing notes because my son is about a year and a half older than her young son. I’m showing her photos and videos and what to expect. We're just really enjoying each other’s company."

Scott! How could you? You little rascal, you. We really hope Alexis forgives you someday, but we don't blame her one little bit if she doesn't.

13 Anna Paquin

True Blood actress Anna Paquin and her on-screen and off-screen love Steven Moyer hid the exciting news that they were expecting twins for quite some time. During filming of their show, a stunt double helped to hide the fact that Anna's belly was expanding. In addition, the ultra-cool couple kept the genders and names of their twins top secret for months after the babies arrived.

Paquin and Moyer have since revealed that they had one of each: a girl named Poppy and a boy named Charlie. So perfect! These adorable monikers were totally worth the wait. Anna and her man are often seen out and about toting their twins in strollers or baby carriers.

While most are aware that Sandra Bullock adopted her son Louis in 2010, the secret adoption of her second child was kept largely under wraps until everything was certain. In 2015, the actress adopted a 3-year-old girl named Laila after first fostering her. She chose to keep Laila's adoption a secret until it was finalized, and has admitted, "It felt very much like witness protection."

Bullock also shared, "From the ruse I had to construct so that Louis didn't have to lie to his friends at school, to the stories I constructed for friends and coworkers as to why I was absent all the time, the subterfuge was pretty elaborate. But there is always the chance that the bonding process wouldn't happen or that the CPS [Child Protective Services] workers would feel I wasn't a suitable match. So I had no problem lying and fabricating stories to keep things on lockdown."

All of Sandra's hard work paid off, and she is now the proud mother of two beautiful children.

The Grey's Anatomy actress shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! "She was born two months ago. I've done it before. The covert thing is kind of fun. This baby was born via surrogate, so I felt an obligation to keep the surrogate's privacy. That was of utmost importance to me."

The actress has since welcomed another baby, a boy, Eli Christopher. It is still unclear exactly when he was born. Pompeo introduced him to the world in December of 2016 via Instagram with a shot of his father, Chris Ivery snuggling him and the caption, "Chris Ivery just fell a notch...I've got a new guy."

She has said of how being a mother has changed the roles she accepts, "It changes your perspective about being overly sexual in a film when you have a baby. I’m going to be more cautious about choosing films because I’m already thinking about when he’s in school and his friends are going to be showing him my photo shoots with me in a bikini and he’s going to be horrified. So that will deter me from making some of the choices I made before.”

Fox keeps it very real when discussing what life as a mom is really like. She shared, "When you have babies, you don't really have a life. You're home a lot. You don't sleep. Every minute is dedicated to someone else, so you don't even get to poop alone."

Liu's choice to use a gestational carrier and raise her son on her own has been met with some criticism. Of the haters, she's said, "I just went ahead and did it ... I didn't realize there was criticism until after I sent out the information that I had my baby through a gestational carrier and my friends said, 'Don't listen to what some people are saying.' I didn't realize people were saying anything negative!"

Of being a single mom, Liu said,  "I don't really raise [Rockwell] by myself. I have a lot of friends and a group of people who help me. It's important to ask for help. If you can manage on your own, that's fine, but people shouldn't feel that they have to be alone while doing it."

5 Kerry Washington

On waiting to find out what she was having the second time around, she joked, "I had no idea what I was having. I said I hoped it was human. That turned out to be right. It's a human boy."

Washington now has two children: son, Caleb Kelechi and daughter, Isabelle Amarachi with football star hubby Nnamdi Asomugha. She has said, "I realized that I don't have to be perfect. Her son, who arrived via C-section is now a lively three-year-old. She welcomed her second child, son, Owen in February of 2016.

Fisher managed to keep her second pregnancy with Elula a secret while on the set of the film Burke and Hare, despite her propensity to get sick. She shared of the experience, "It was troublesome. I was always secretly unlacing my corset and trying to not puke in front of everyone." The star continued, "But [co-star] Simon Pegg has no observational skills at all because I had the worst morning sickness, I was totally ill and I think he just thought I was some bulimic actress from Hollywood and he just ignored it. He never asked!”

Fisher has said of her husband and children, "Family is 100 percent my top priority. So I’m much more comfortable doing supporting roles right now. And often, they’re the most interesting. You get to be a character actress."

2 Naya Rivera

On motherhood, Rivera has shared, “I still feel like the same me but…now I have different priorities. Having someone else to look out for other than myself is a really beautiful thing, it gives you a whole new dimension of joy, and elevates your life in so many ways.”

The former Glee actress has also said, “Being a mom, which I love, certainly changes your priorities. As much as I love singing, dancing and acting I really want to find a new balance between my work and my family life. My son Josey is now my number one priority, which eliminates all those long location projects.”

1 Marilyn Monroe

The iconic actress Marilyn Monroe once said, "Having a child, that's always been my biggest fear. I want a child and I fear a child." Monroe never realized her dream of having children before her tragic death in 1962 at the age of 36.

Exclusive images were recently sold at an estate auction of the late Frieda Hull, a known friend of Monroe's. The 6 photos were sold to Tony Michaels for $2,240. Michaels claims he spoke with Hull about the images before her death. He says Hull referred to them as the "pregnancy slides" and took the secret behind them with her to the grave.

Michaels shared with DailyMail.com "...she told me the story behind them, that Marilyn got pregnant by Yves Montand. It wasn’t a guess or a presumption, it was something she knew for sure, she was very close to Marilyn. As far as she was concerned Marilyn was pregnant in the summer of 1960 and the slides prove it." Monroe was married to Arthur Miller at the time the photos were allegedly taken.

It is believed the actress lost her baby due to unknown causes during a hospital stay soon after the pictures were taken. Despite the possibility of this painful part of Monroe's life, she always kept a positive outlook.

Monroe famously said, "Sometimes things fall apart so that better things can fall together." On another occasion, the model and actress shared, "Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.”
