Picture it: mom-to-be spends weeks planning the perfect pregnancy announcement to surprise her friends and family. She takes the perfect pictures or video, and can’t wait to post them to her social networks, simply to elicit some perfectly-surprised reactions from those she loves most.

Before she knows it, her pregnancy announcement goes viral. It’s shared thousands, if not millions, of times, all over the world. Who knew so many people she didn’t know would end up loving her announcement just as much as she did?

The thing about pregnancy announcements is the element of surprise involved can intrigue anyone who sees it, even if they don’t know the couple. People love good stories and humor, and pregnancy announcements often go viral when they have some humor involved.

More and more couples are making their pregnancy announcements more fun for everyone by specifically making them into something that could go viral. Funny parodies of our favorite songs, for example, seem to be the new trend in pregnancy announcements that’s totally winning over the internet.

And then there are other, more emotional announcements for “rainbow” babies, those miracle babies that come along after a mother suffers a miscarriage or stillbirth. These serve as inspiration for all the couples who are going through similar heartbreak, and are the types of feel-good, amazing stories that spread like wildfire on social media.

Let’s face it: we love unique pregnancy announcements, and that’s why we share them! Here are some of the most-shared pregnancy announcements ever to grace the internet.

15 A Paralyzing Announcement

In one of the most recent pregnancy announcements to go viral, an Ohio couple poked a little bit of fun at themselves. Amanda Diesen and Todd Krieg met in 2015. Todd was a patient at a recovery center in California, and Amanda was his therapist. Todd was paralyzed from the chest down after a dirt bike crash.

But, that didn’t stop the two from falling in love. However, they never thought they’d be able to get pregnant, at least, not without intervening procedures. So, imagine the couple’s surprise when they found out they were, indeed, expecting earlier this year.

Todd set up a pregnancy announcement photo shoot in January, and the two had a funny idea to make their announcement stand out. Amanda held her sonogram in front of a message saying, “It still works!”, while an obviously-thrilled Todd gives an old-fashioned thumbs up.

Todd also had a surprise in store for Amanda during the shoot, when he proposed to her!

14 The Sneaky Pregnancy Test

This pregnancy announcement video became a quick internet sensation in 2015, thanks to its already somewhat famous YouTube creators, Sam and Nia. The couple had been vlogging their journeys as parents for several months at the time, and were gaining a steady following.

One day after work, Sam decided to prove his wife was pregnant when she didn’t even know it yet. He took it upon himself to use a dropper of her urine from the toilet and place it on a pregnancy test, with the intent of surprising her with the news!

It worked, and an excited Nia couldn’t believe he went through such lengths to make this announcement so different. The couple gained millions of new followers and the video became a hit practically overnight.

Unfortunately, Nia suffered a miscarriage. The couple took to their YouTube channel once more to share the news with their followers in another video that quickly went viral.

13 The Realistic Side Of IVF

This pregnancy announcement gives us all the feels, since it touches on the subject of infertility and how it can affect so many couples. Lauren and Garyt, who were high school sweethearts, had attempted to have a baby for several years, but with no luck. They eventually elected for IVF treatments, and ended up with hundreds of rounds of them before finally ending up pregnant.

So, they made their treatments an important part of the pregnancy announcement process, showcasing two adorable baby onesies in the middle of 452 IVF needles. The couple found out they were having not one, but two babies, and couldn’t be more excited.

The couple’s Facebook post announcing the pregnancy read: “We prayed for 953 days...452 Needles, 1000's of tears, 1 corrective surgery, 4 clomid/letrozole attempts, 2 IVF rounds, 3 failed transfers and & 1 Amazing GOD”. The couple is expecting a girl and a boy in August 2017.

12 Oops, We Did It Again

2015 was a big year for creative pregnancy announcements that went viral. This Britney Spears themed video had everyone talking. Because, really, who doesn’t love Britney Spears? Combine her songs with an adorable couple, a pregnancy, and some new baby-focused lyrics, and you have the makings of a hit.

Cue Jerrad and Machel Green, who did just that for the announcement of their 2nd pregnancy. The video uses several of Britney’s favorite songs, with the lyrics tweaked to help announce the pregnancy, like “Oops, I did it again…I took the test. It’s positive!”

Not only did they come up with new lyrics, but they truly went all out in the wardrobe department too, with Machel wearing outfits that mimic some of Britney’s most famous getups. If you’re going to be doing a pregnancy announcement, might as well do it Britney-style.

And they didn’t stop there. They added onto the video after finding out they were having a baby girl, using Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea’s song, “Pretty Girls”, to announce the gender to the world.

11 Siri Spilled The Beans

In one of the most creative ways of announcing a pregnancy to a soon-to-be grandmother, a couple chose to have Siri, the iPhone’s intelligence assistance system, play an important role in the whole thing.

The couple programmed Siri using a text-to-talk feature, to make it seem as though Siri was taking over and spilling the beans for them to a very unexpecting grandma-to-be. The funny part it the couple acted just as surprised at Siri’s words, just to give grandma even more of a shock.

The video was posted to YouTube by Rachel Earls, the mom-to-be, in December 2016, after finding out she was pregnant on Christmas Eve. She got to surprise her husband the next morning (Christmas morning!) with the biggest surprise of his life. Naturally, she couldn’t wait to tell her mom, but she decided to do it in a fun way to make the memory last forever. The video has since reached almost 70,000 views and has been shared all over social media and blogs.

10 They Can't Stop Having Babies

What better way to announce a 4th pregnancy than to do it to the tune of Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop”? That’s exactly what the Chapman family did in 2015, after finding out the parents of three were having another baby.

Their version of the song focused on all the possible naysayers of having yet another baby, explaining, basically, that it’s their lives and their decision of how many babies to have. This comes after the couple met some scrutiny, and less excitement, after sharing their news of baby #4 with some people in their lives. Mom Andrea told TODAY, “Nobody was excited. I think we went past what everyone’s idea for our family was. For some reason, four is like this odd number in our culture today and it’s not celebrated the same way.”

The adorable video shows the couple's other children as well, displaying the family in their everyday world, but with the addition of some hilarious lyrics: “Can't you see it's we who'll be up all night? Can't you see it's we who love this life?” and “It’s my body, I can grow who I want to” are just some of the lyrics that battle those who criticize their choices.

9 The Highs And Lows Of Pregnancy

Let’s face it: pregnancy isn’t always as beautiful for some moms as we’d like it to be. Some pregnancies are fairly easy, with little sickness, aches, or problems. For others, it’s constant “morning” sickness, all day, every day, with little breaks in between.

One couple decided to showcase the ups and downs of pregnancy in their pregnancy announcement, in just one perfect picture that sums it all up. As dad holds the couple’s toddler son and gives a big thumbs up to the camera, we see pregnant mommy getting sick in the toilet in the background. It’s true – a pregnancy for a dad tends to be a lot more fun than it is for a mom!

It’s relatable to most pregnant couples, which is possibly why it became so quickly popular after being shared on the Life of Dad Facebook page in October 2015. Since then, it’s had over 3,200 likes and almost 100 shares, and has been featured on a variety of blogs.

8 The Other Mother

In one of the most epic pregnancy announcements to ever go viral, Becca and Meg announced their pregnancy in a humorous, yet very personal, way. The couple met through a charity bowling league they were both a part of, and soon fell in love, even though Becca considered herself heterosexual at the time.

After being married for a few years, they started thinking about having a baby. Becca was the obvious choice to carry the pregnancy, since she had always dreamed of becoming pregnant. The couple searched for sperm donors, and once Becca finally became pregnant after a third try, they couldn’t wait to reveal their pregnancy.

But, they wanted to do it in a personal, funny way that felt right. Becca decided to order t-shirts that read: “I’m Pregnant” for Becca, and “I’m not the father” for Meg. They originally took the photos just to make their closest friends and family chuckle, but they feel it’s a blessing that their photos have spread across the web, opening up important discussions about LGBT rights.

7 The Announcement Only She Can Pull Off

The queen of the charts herself, Beyonce, had her own viral pregnancy announcement when she uniquely shared her 2nd pregnancy – and the fact that, this time around, she’s having twins!

But, even her biggest fans were not quite sure what to think of this announcement. Was it a joke? Did her pregnancy hormones get to her head? Does she truly think this photo is a gorgeous representation of her pregnancy? They were mostly left bewildered, rather than having their questions answered.

This pregnancy announcement photo does seem a bit awkward for Beyonce, who is usually one of the most stylish, trendiest people on the planet. This photo, however, reminds us of those memes you see of funny portraits from decades past. It’s all a bit too staged and…strange.

But, if there’s one thing for sure, it’s that Beyonce pulls it off like no one else could. And, perhaps, she did it to get people talking, which absolutely worked.

6 Anxiously Awaiting His Backup

When Pasadena, Texas police officer, Daniel Martinez, found out his wife was expecting their first child together, he wanted it to be special. He agreed to have pregnancy photos taken with his wife, but he wanted something a little extra. Something just for him, that would make the whole moment even more memorable.

So, with the help of his step-daughter, Martinez took a cruise in his police car, with the perfect statement written on a chalkboard: "Daddy’s backup is on the way! ETA September 2016”. And, of course, both Martinez and his step-daughter have the perfect police officer expressions on their faces as they share the news.

Martinez’s main focus was to remind people that officers are regular people with regular lives, too, in spite of all of the swirling controversy and bad reputations they tend to get. He aimed to make some light of the dark situations that surround police officers, and he succeeded with his “daddy” pregnancy announcement that went viral.

5 "I'm Going To Be A Grandfather?"

If you watch The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, surely you’ve watched “The Whisper Game”, in which celebrity guests wear headphones playing loud music and have to guess what Jimmy is saying to them by reading his lips. It’s ridiculously silly, but hilarious at the same time. A smart couple decided to play this game with the dad-to-be’s parents to announce a pregnancy in a video that quickly went viral.

The funniest part about this one, perhaps, is that the grandma-to-be understood the “I am pregnant” right away, but the grandfather-to-be took a while to figure it out, making for a pretty hilarious swarm of guesses. “Short shorts?” anyone?

Finally, he guesses it right, yet it still takes him a few seconds to realize that he is, indeed, going to be a grandfather. Once he does, his reaction is nothing short of adorable. It’s no wonder people love this announcement so much!

4 Bun In The Oven

In one of the most viral pregnancy announcement videos of all time, a couple plays a “hide and seek” game with an unsuspecting grandma-to-be in the kitchen. Dad-to-be tells his mom to search for a surprise in the kitchen, and she thinks she’s getting an early surprise birthday party.

Instead, after searching all the cabinets – and adorably mistaking a camera set up for the video as her present!- she finds a bun in the oven. At first, she doesn’t put two and two together. But when she does, her reaction is hysterically priceless. She even tries to say the phrase, “bun in the oven”, which instead turns into a loud, screaming, “BAAAAAA!”.

The original video was posted in 2013, and has since garnered almost 1.4 million views. It continues to be one of the pregnancy announcements people tend to think of as most memorable. The grateful couple has even posted a follow-up video thanking all of their supporters of the original video.

3 The Prank That Backfired

This is the story of a pregnancy announcement that was never intended to be a pregnancy announcement, and became one in the strangest of ways. Apparently, the couple in this video constantly pulled pranks on each other. The guy decided, foolishly, that he would play the ultimate prank on his girlfriend – by pretending to cheat with an ex-girlfriend that his current girlfriend was already jealous of. Eek.

The girlfriend came home to find the prankster “in bed” with his ex, and immediately freaks out, begins to cry, and runs out of the room, saying “I don’t want that child with you!”. Wait, what?

Yep. Turns out she’s pregnant, and this prank turned bad very quickly. Foolish boyfriend had to chase down his girlfriend to try to explain the whole thing. What a way to find out your girlfriend is expecting a baby!

Although this pregnancy announcement is horrible, it had viral potential from the start (shock factor, anyone?), and currently has over 7 million views on YouTube.

2 Photo Booth Surprise

A couple who loves visiting photo booths were taking a seemingly innocent photo shoot in one – but a mother-to-be had a surprise up her sleeve for the dad-to-be. She coaxed him into the booth, as usual, and began taking routine photos. Then, she held up a tiny baby hat, with the word “baby” written on it.

Dad didn’t realize what was going on, and instead thought she was holding up coupons for Pizzeria Lola. Once he realized that his honey was holding up something else, he gave her a puzzled look, and then looked down at the hat. Once he realized what was going on, he immediately turned on the water works, an adorable reaction that hits us right in the heart.

This guy is obviously happy to soon be a daddy, and we can tell just by the video. That’s probably why this pregnancy announcement has well over 20 million views on YouTube! We are all suckers for an adorable love story.

1 The Rainbow Baby

Rainbow baby photo shoots are becoming more popular, as a way to both honor babies who were lost through miscarriage or stillbirth, and to welcome a new miracle baby into the world. The colorful photos give hope to the many couples who deal with infertility issues every day.

But, a rainbow baby photoshoot by photographer JoAnn Marrero was so stunning that it captured the attention of people all over the world, thanks to social media shares. Couple Jessica and Kevin Mahoney reached out to the photographer to celebrate, and announce, the pregnancy of their 2nd child.

Prior to this pregnancy, Jessica suffered from 6 miscarriages. She knew that she wanted her photos to honor her babies with a rainbow theme. So, Marrero sought the help of her photography mentor, Mary Maloney, to capture the perfect scene, using colored smoke bombs to create a colorful rainbow as the background.

The photo, and story, has since been covered in stories all over the web, as well as Facebook pages for those who have gone through similar experiences as the Mahoneys.
