Women all over the world deal with body-shaming regularly, whether it’s skinny-shaming, fat-shaming, or anything in between. It seems that, no matter what they do to their bodies, it just isn’t good enough for anyone else. Shaming can lead to some severe consequences, like depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and even suicide. That saying that “Words can never hurt you” doesn’t necessarily ring true in this case.

Unfortunately, even pregnant women and those who have already given birth to their babies aren’t even exempt from shaming. And, they may even get it worse than other women, as if their bodies should just magically bounce right back into shape again after delivery. Celeb women are constantly in the spotlight and go through some of the most horrendous body-shaming imaginable – even when they’ve just had a baby.

Kim K. was equated to a “whale” during and after her pregnancies, while Alanna Masterson received harsh criticism – even from her “fans” – after returning to the set of The Walking Dead sporting her new post-baby body. Hilaria Baldwin shamelessly shared a gorgeous photo of herself one day after giving birth to show off the “real” side of post-baby bodies, and still got slammed. It’s a never-ending cycle that, hopefully, more articles like this one will bring to light – and help to end.

18 Kim Kardashian - Celeb Body Icon

Kim Kardashian has always been known as one of America’s amazing celebrity body icons. But, when she became pregnant for the first time with her daughter, North, it didn’t take long for the media to start commenting on her weight gain – even going as far as equating her to a whale in photos like the one above. Kim has said during both her pregnancies that she and pregnancy just don’t get along and she admittedly put on quite a bit of weight.

Kim bounced back fairly quickly from each of her pregnancies, but her toughest critics didn’t stop saying horrible things about her new-mom body until she did. Kim has even accused some of her own friends for fat-shaming her when she indulges in sweet treats, like an Oreo milkshake. And, Piers Morgan felt the need to chime in about cellulite after talking about Kim’s figure: “Why would we celebrate it? We put up with it, tolerate it, but not accept it. Flaws should not be celebrated.”

17 Kelly Clarkson - “Chunky Monkey”

Kelly Clarkson’s body certainly did change after having her daughter, River, but she was still the same gorgeous, bubbly, adorable, talented singer we’ve always loved. The media, unfortunately, created a circus around her new body, though, and focused more on that than her incredible talent. Kate Hopkins, a British TV personality, even went so far as to call her a “Chunky Monkey” on air. Nice.

Fortunately, Clarkson is one of those strong women who knows to brush off her critics. Clarkson told Redbook in an interview, "I don't obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it. There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism–that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism. But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.” Just another reason to love her.

16 Catelynn Lowell - “No Heifer For A Wife”

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra of MTV’s Teen Mom franchise have always had one of those relationships that people dream of. They’ve been together since they were kids and have somehow managed to make it through becoming teen parents, giving their baby up for adoption, having another baby, and staying together through it all. But, even this “dream couple” has its flaws, especially when Tyler had some harsh words for his wife concerning her body after giving birth to their second child.

A preview for a recent season of the TV show showed Tyler criticizing Catelynn for her food choices: “That’s a big ass quesadilla, it has a lot of chicken. It’s your body, you could do what you want. Obviously, I don’t want no heifer for a wife!” Even when a producer attempts to make him understand the harshness of his words, Tyler says, “I’m being honest! Would you want to be married to some big heifer?”

15 Jessica Simpson - Too Fat Pregnant, Too Fat After

Jessica Simpson didn’t seem to stand a chance with ridiculous critics throughout or after her pregnancies. Once one of Hollywood’s most known 'hot pot', it seemed like everyone attacked her once she began putting on weight during her first pregnancy. Pictures of a heavier Jessica were on just about every tabloid imaginable, even making fun of her size right after she had given birth.

But, we love a woman who stands up to her critics. Jessica said in an interview for Redbook, “I never listen to it, no matter who the press talks about when they’re pregnant. It’s ridiculous and unfair. I think any woman who is pregnant and creating a life is pretty much entitled to eat whatever she wants as long as she’s healthy. I wasn’t going to let the media take away from what was one of the happiest times in my life.”

14 Aishwarya Rai - Too Many Curves?

Aishwarya Rai, former Miss World winner and current actress and model, gave birth in 2012. Not long after, she appeared on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Most would think she looked absolutely radiant in her sparkly, bluish-gray gown, but the fat-shamers were out in full force that night. Her curvier body apparently wasn’t good enough for some, who thought that she had plenty of time to drop her baby weight by the time of the event.

She looks like a gorgeous, healthy woman to us, but the criticism was harsh. Aishwarya’s response to it all? “It isn't surprising because in this industry it comes as standard when an actress becomes a mother, the focus isn't on her health, it's how fast she lost her weight. I don't worry about this; to me, the well-being and the health of my family is more important than focusing on going back to my pre-pregnancy body in miracle time. It should not be taken to extremes.”

13 Saranya Mohan - “Current Situation” Of Fat Shaming

Actress Saranya Mohan gave birth to one of the most adorable little boys on the planet in 2016. Instead of celebrating with her, people decided to shame her new body. On internet articles that announced her son’s birth, the trolls of the internet came out in full force, only pointing out that she had gained a lot of weight and became “fat” instead of congratulating the family on what should be a happy time in their lives. One headline even referred to Saranya’s weight gain as a “current situation,” making it sound as if she had some terrible disease that she’s going to die from or pass to others.

Saranya had one of the simplest, yet poignant, responses to all of her fat-shamers in a post on her Facebook page: “Happiness is mother hood. Happiness is feeding my son. Happiness is taking care of my family. and I am proud of it :) ‘Birth is the epicenter of women’s power.’ –Ani DiFranco''.

12 Alyssa Milano - Just Giving Up?

Jay Mohr, a comic who’s been pretty irrelevant in recent years, decided to put himself back in the news for horrible comments toward the always-gorgeous Alyssa Milano back in 2014 after she had recently had her baby boy. During a radio interview, Mohr said: “It seems like she had a baby and said, ‘I don’t really give a s**t’ ... I read it on her gut... Somebody sat in the director’s chair and was not wearing Spanx and I was like, ‘Jesus Christ.’”

Alyssa responded on Twitter with her head held high: “So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife.” Mohr did issue an apology on his blog not long after, thankfully, but it doesn’t take away from the harsh, ridiculous words that he said.

11 Janet Jackson - “Doomed” To Be Forever-Fat

Janet Jackson not only made headlines for becoming pregnant for the first time at the age of 50, but she was also the target of some horrendous criticism for her weight gain during her pregnancy. It’s been reported that Jackson gained approximately 80 pounds, which is about three times more than what most doctors recommend (not to mention – she was 50! Give her a break). But, it seemed that the world still expected her body to magically return to her fit size she once was during the peak of her career 20-30 years ago.

Only 5 weeks after she gave birth, the internet slammed Janet. Social media trolls, bloggers, and gossip sites constantly focused on her body instead of celebrating her healthy arrival. One doctor even was quoted saying that Janet is “doomed to be fat forever.”

10 Alanna Masterson - The Walking Criticism Magnet

Alanna Masterson, who plays Tara on The Walking Dead, didn’t seem to get any praise for her reappearance on the show after returning as a new mom for season 7. Instead, fans decided to talk about her weight gain, as if that’s what’s super important on a show with flesh-eating zombies. Masterson was quick to defend her body, noting that the same body they were bashing was also nourishing her daughter through breastfeeding.

She said in a caption on an Instagram post, “Before you decide to make a comment about my chest being 'too large' or how 'fat' I've become, just know that this little girl got the best start to life. I would've gladly continued to eat enough calories to produce milk for her little bones to grow. P.S. I would LOVE to see any man or woman give birth to a baby, nurse the baby, and then work 17-hour days and NAIL their own stunts.” So there, haters.

9 Kendra Wilkinson - No Longer A Hot Symbol

After giving birth to her two kiddos, Kendra Wilkinson had a love-hate relationship with her new Mom bod. She was once one of the biggest 'hot pots' in America when she appeared on Girls Next Door with Playboy icon Hugh Heffner’s other playmates. But, as most bodies do after having kids, hers changed – and the internet didn’t let her forget it.

In one interview, Kendra said, “My pregnancy was a free for all. I had no boundaries. I just ate, ate, ate. I just said, 'This is my time, these are my nine months, I can just have fun, how big can I really get?' Sixty pounds! I gained 60 pounds!” She admitted feeling lousy about herself after giving birth and not seeing her body bounce back quickly. But, the internet didn’t help, even reminding her that she was no longer a steamy symbol.

8 Hilary Duff - The Big “Reveal”

Since Kendra Wilkinson had been through the post-baby fat shaming herself, she’s been quick to come to the rescue of other celeb mamas going through the same thing. One of those she defended was Hilary Duff, who gave birth to a son in 2012. After that, photos of her on errands in the grocery store surfaced in tabloids, calling the photos a glimpse of her post-baby “debut” instead of what they were – a busy mom who had to run to the store. The media had a field day, picking apart her post-baby body.

Then there were more recent photos of Hilary in a bathing suit with people noting cellulite on her bottom. As you can see from her Instagram photo caption, Hilary has learned to brush off the criticism and give it back to her critics, even saying in one interview, “Say it to my face.”

7 Hilaria Baldwin - Showcasing The Real Side Of Pregnancy

Hilaria Baldwin had received criticism throughout her pregnancy for being “too skinny” and because she chose to work out during and immediately after her pregnancy. Her case goes to show that the shaming goes both ways – from being too skinny to too fat. A day after her son was born, she took a selfie to show people the real side of having a baby and that every single woman’s body is different during, and after, a pregnancy.

Still, Hilaria didn’t escape criticism. Her Instagram followers were quick to point out that it was too soon to be focusing on working out and that she should, instead, care for her baby – as if you can’t do both. One commenter said, “You're slim [and] you don't represent other women at all..”. Thanks for your wise words – not.

6 Lauren London - Twitter Haters

Lauren London gave birth to her baby in September 2016. She didn’t make her first public appearance until February of this year, a “whopping” 5 months after giving birth. Apparently, fans believed that, in those 5 months, she should have gotten her pre-baby figure back instead of the slightly curvier one she now had. She even began trending on Twitter for being “fat”. Glad to see the Twitter trolls have nothing better to do with their time, right?

Fortunately, London’s biggest fans defended her on Twitter against the obnoxious trolls. One fan tweeted, “You’re mad a Lauren London for retaining baby weight AND you get mad at celebs who get body sculpting right after birth?”, and another said, “If Lauren London is fat then I’m a MF whale… I bet she’s not struggling to come up with tomorrow’s rent like the rest of you b***hes…”.

5 Jennifer Garner - The Bump Is Here To Stay

Jennifer Garner is one of Hollywood’s most gorgeous mamas and one whose body makes some of us moms jealous. She’s always been a good sport about things, including poking fun at herself, even when it comes to her body. She’s mentioned that it’s important to her, even when faced with criticism, to show her girls that they need to be proud of their bodies.

So, even when tabloids focused on her post-pregnancy body after each of her three deliveries, it’s no wonder that she took the criticism in stride. Tabloids happily pointed out her fuller body in a bathing suit, among other ridiculous statements. Jennifer’s response? “Apparently I have a baby bump. And I'm here to tell you that I do -- I do! I am not pregnant, but I have had three kids and there is a bump. From now on ladies, I will have a bump. And it will be my baby bump. And let's just all settle in and get used to it. It's not going anywhere. I have a bump. Its name is Violet, Sam, Sera.”

4 Erin McNaught - “Unrealistic” Post-Pregnancy Body

Erin McNaught is a model who shamelessly showed off her gorgeous post-baby figure on Instagram. This shot was snapped at 4 weeks post-partum, and she said that her body has all been the result of healthy eating and a lot of walking – both very realistic and healthy ways to lose pounds after having a baby. Of course, all the shamers pounced on her, likely from jealousy.

One commenter asked, “Did she have a surrogate?” while another simply said, “Unrealistic.” Yet another alluded to a messed-up opinion that McNaught cared more about staying in the public eye than being a mother: “We have to stay relevant in the media somehow I guess don’t we? Goodness knows you don’t do that just being a mother.” Many others made it seem as if she posted the photo only to make other moms feel bad about themselves, which was hardly the case.

3 Lily Allen - Standing Up For Herself

Lily Allen was at the center of some drama when Katie Hopkins, an English TV personality, blasted her to the public after she gave birth to a daughter a few years ago. Hopkins said, “She was removing herself from the spotlight because she wanted to be a mother and that largely involved gaining two stone and looking pretty hideous. So then she decided that was boring and now she wasn't going to be a mother any more, she was going to be a singer.”

Lily had one of the best comebacks to body-shaming, ever, in a series of Twitter posts: “Can somebody tell me what Katie Hopkins does except go on telly slagging off girls half her age? PS: Katie, looks are obviously so important to you. There's always plastic surgery ya know. Maybe they could sew your mouth up while they fix the rest of you.” Unfortunately, she deleted them not long after, but at least she had her say.

2 Pink - “Concerned” About The Body

If you know anything about the singer, Pink, you know she could care less about what anyone else thinks about her. But, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt when people comment about your body after one of the happiest times of your life: having a baby. Since having her daughter, Willow, Pink has become one of the fiercest defenders of women’s rights and making sure every woman on Earth knows she’s beautiful.

So, when haters came after her with their “concerns” over her post-baby body after she made a public appearance in 2015, she was quick to say, “I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy. I am not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either!” Even after having her son last year, Pink’s admitted that, by BMI standards, she’s “obese” but certainly doesn’t feel it, and that’s what matters!

1 Kourtney Kardashian - Family Or Foe?

It’s one thing when body shaming comes from internet trolls who hide behind their computer screens and know nothing about the celeb they’re shaming other than photos they see. It’s a whole different ball game when the attacks come from someone you love and trust. That’s what happened to Kourtney Kardashian, who’s had a very rocky relationship with the father of her three babies, Scott Disick.

Not long after she had her daughter (baby #2), Scott pressured Kourtney to lose more weight after finding out she got to 115 pounds. He said on their TV show, “I feel like 93 is the dream. Your body was banging when I first saw you on the beach with that little a**.” To the cameras, he said, “When we had Mason I remember her trying to whip herself back into shape pretty quick. This time around it seems like it's the least of her concerns, and the only thing she thinks about are the kids.” Silly her – a mom putting her kids first!
