The celebrity baby boom is coming for 2017. It seems like Instagram is the most popular method for pregnancy announcements, and everywhere you turn, more happy couples are announcing their news in adorable Instagram photos.
Others opt for more traditional routes, like revealing their pregnancies to magazines or letting their reps spill the beans. And then there are others who choose to keep us all impatiently waiting for the big reveal!
Regardless of the announcement method, there are bound to be some you’ve missed hearing about. These popular celebrity couples are the ones you can expect to see cute baby announcements from in 2017.
20 Pink & Carey Hart
Singer Pink announced on Twitter and Instagram in mid-November that she was expecting her second child with husband Carey Hart. Sporting a white dress, a large baby bump and her 5-year-old daughter, Willow, by her side, her caption simply said “Surprise!” Pink and Hart have been on-again, off-again since 2001.
Pink and Carey Hart have had a rocky relationship, and Pink has even joked around about them being due for another break. Yet, the pair have become one of the most solid – and loved – couples in Hollywood. They finally said “I do” in 2006 and welcomed daughter Willow in 2011.
Fans speculated about Pink’s current pregnancy earlier this year when they saw photos of her sporting what looked like a baby bump. But, she didn’t confirm the news until she was ready, as is true Pink fashion.
19 Janet Jackson & Wissam Al Mana
Janet Jackson announced to People magazine in July that she’s expecting her first child – at age 50! After postponing her Unbreakable World Tour in May, fans began to speculate about her health, specifically that she may be pregnant. Still, she kept a low profile for a few months until officially making the announcement in July. Since then, she’s been seen stepping out with a large baby bump and her husband, Al Mana.
Critics have wondered how Janet’s age may affect her baby, but Janet and her husband aren’t worried. In November, she posted her first health update on their pregnancy on Twitter, ensuring fans that she’s “doing well” and “I feel your love and prayers.” She then concluded her message with an Arabic message, translated to “Praise be to God.”
18 Vanessa & Nick Lachey
In one of the cutest pregnancy announcements ever, Vanessa and Nick Lachey posed for an adorable family photo for Instagram in front of their new home, saying “Now we need a new CRIB!” The baby is due in the spring of 2017 and will join big brother Camden and big sister Brooklyn.
Vanessa and Nick have been one of Hollywood’s strongest couples since Nick shocked his fans with his split from Jessica Simpson in 2005. Nick didn’t waste much time after the divorce, sparking up a relationship with Vanessa in mid 2006.
After a brief split in 2009, Nick and Vanessa were back on and finally married in the summer of 2011. After having two children together, they’ve discussed adding a third, noting that they love the busy and “chaotic” adventure that their kids bring to their lives.
17 Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott
Actress Tori Spelling and her actor husband, Dean McDermott, have had a tumultuous couple of years after McDermott’s cheating scandal in 2013. Fortunately, they’ve managed to reconcile for the sake of their relationship and their kids, insisting that they’re now stronger than ever. Good thing too, because they’re expecting baby number 5 in 2017. Their newest addition will join older siblings Liam, 9, Stella, 8, Hattie, 5, and Finn, 4.
Although the pair’s relationship has been under fire since it began – they both cheated on their spouses with each other! – they always seem to find a way to make it work. Their newest addition wasn’t planned. In fact, Tori was concerned about her and the baby’s safety after she had serious complications carrying her son, Finn. However, they are looking forward to what the future brings to them and their 5th baby.
16 Geri Halliwell & Christian Horner
Former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell (Horner), and her husband Christian Horner are expecting their 2nd child together. Halliwell made the announcement in a somewhat cryptic message on Instagram that said “God Bless Mother Nature #mamaspice.” The couple has two children from previous relationships.
Although 44-year-old Halliwell is overjoyed by the news, it seems that one of her former Spice Girls mates isn’t so thrilled. According to News.com.au, Mel B (AKA “Scary Spice”) unfollowed Halliwell on Instagram after seeing the news.
Apparently, the group had announced plans in June to have some sort of celebration for its 20th anniversary. However, with Halliwell being pregnant, it seems that will be impossible now, and Mel B isn’t happy about it. No comment from Halliwell yet, and it looks like she’s just ready to focus on enjoying her pregnancy and preparing for her new addition.
15 Peta Murgatroyd & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Peta and Maksim are known for their moves on the ballroom, but they kept their relationship under wraps for quite a while before revealing it to their fans. They’d known each other since 2009, and Peta actually found Maks to be “arrogant” when she first met him for their Broadway production, Burn the Floor.
But, their long-time friendship turned to a relationship in 2012, with a brief break about a year later. They reconciled in 2014, got engaged in 2015, and are now happily pregnant.
Although Dancing with the Stars host Erin Andrews accidentally outed the dancing couple’s pregnancy during finale rehearsals before they told close family and friends, Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy didn’t confirm their pregnancy until a few weeks later. The couple’s first child, a son, is due in January 2017.
14 Melanie Hamrick & Mick Jagger
Melanie Hamrick, a 30-year-old professional ballerina, suddenly disappeared online and stopped performing in June after she found out she was pregnant with the 8th child of Mick Jagger, her boyfriend of over 2 years. The baby was due in December and joined Jagger’s 7 other children, ranging in age from 17 to 25.
Melanie and Mick have now welcomed their baby boy, Deveraux, to the growing Jagger family! Despite controversy over their relationship – and confusion over what will happen with Melanie’s career she’s had to put on hold – the couple are elated with the newest addition.
Melanie posted a photo on her Instagram account with the caption, “I’m so in love with my baby, Deveraux Jagger! Thank you @lizziejagger [Jagger’s daughter, Elizabeth] for the sweet introduction!”
13 Amber Tamblyn & David Cross
People Magazine reported in October that actress Amber Tamblyn and her husband, actor David Cross, are expecting their first child together, a daughter, in 2017. Tamblyn, who is very vocal about her feminist beliefs, wrote an essay about her desire for her daughter to grow up in a world where women in high leadership positions won’t be considered unusual.
Amber isn’t the only one excited over her announcement. Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants co-star, Blake Lively, seems to be thrilled for her friend’s new addition.
A few days after Amber’s announcement, Blake posted on Instagram with a photo of the two together, both holding onto her adorable baby bump. Blake captioned, “So proud of my dear friend, and new mama to be, @amberrosetamblyn…Whatever your beliefs, one thing is certain, the world will be a better, safer place for women and girls.”
12 Ciara & Russel Wilson
Ciara and her hubby, Russel Wilson, are expecting their first child together in 2017. The announcement was shared on Ciara’s Instagram on her October birthday. Ciara has a 2 ½ year old son with her ex, Future, which turned sour not long after the birth of their son. In fact, Ciara immediately broke off her engagement to Future once rumors of his cheating swirled.
Future and Ciara have since been involved in a huge custody battle over their son which has included lawsuits over nasty rumors and statements. In the midst of it all, Ciara has continued to form a strong relationship with Russel Wilson, who she married in a secret ceremony in July 2016. The couple is ecstatic about the pregnancy, and Ciara recently showed off her baby bump on a date with her hubby in December.
11 Vanessa & Kobe Byrant
Basketball legend, Kobe Bryans, and his wife, Vanessa, announced on Instagram in July that they’re expecting a third daughter. The couple, who celebrated a baby shower in September with their close family and friends, have been married for 15 years and have two children together, Natalia, 13, and Gianna 10.
The couple haven’t dished too much about their pregnancy, aside from releasing some photos of their baby shower. The couple coordinated in bright whites and took an adorable photo in front of a flowered background, complete with Kobe’s hands in the shape of a heart on Vanessa’s baby belly. She posted the photo on Instagram, thanking all of her friends and family for coming to the baby shower to celebrate the soon-to-be Bryant addition.
10 Camilla Luddington & Matt Alan
Greay’s Anatomy star Camilla Luddington spilled the beans to her Instagram followers about her pregnancy in October, using a pumpkin to relay the message: “Baby arriving spring 2017.” This will be the first child for Luddington and her boyfriend of several months, Matt Alan.
Luddington gave “nods of respect” to her Instagram followers that guessed right about her pregnancy in the past couple of months. She’s excited to be a “cool mom,” as she gushed in her Instagram post. She also assured her fans that she’d keep them updated with belly pictures and health updates of her pregnancy as time moved forward. She’s delivered, showing off her adorable bump at the gym, on the red carpet, and in front of her Christmas tree.
9 Amanda Seyfried & Thomas Sadoski
The 30-year-old actress and her actor fiancé, Thomas Sadoski, are expecting their first child together in 2017. The pair got engaged six months after they began dating, and announced their pregnancy soon after.
The couple is keeping their relationship and pregnancy somewhat under-wraps, as they’ve done for most of their relationship since they began dating in 2015. In fact, their engagement was only confirmed when Amanda was spotted wearing an engagement ring while spending time with her dog in New York City.
And, her pregnancy was only confirmed once she could no longer hide the baby bump. Amanda hasn’t said much about her unborn baby yet, but she reportedly referred to the baby as “him” in an interview with W Magazine. As Amanda talked about her pregnancy cravings, she said “he’ll hopefully crave cottage cheese his whole life,” since that’s been her biggest craving.
8 Katherine Heigl & Josh Kelley
One of the most exciting celebrity pregnancies this year is that of actress Katherine Heigl, who is expecting a baby boy in January with hubby Josh Kelley. The pair have two adopted children together, Naleigh and Adelaide, but this will be the couple’s first biological child. Heigl always knew she wanted biological children, but wanted to first build a family through adoption.
The couple, who has been married since 2007, have one of Hollywood’s most thriving marriages. The 37-year-old actress has said that the strength of their marriage has relied on surprising, romantic gestures from both parties and spending quality time together at home.
Now that she began her family the way she wanted to, Katherine Heigl is looking forward to her first biological child. She’s been seen on several occasions happily flaunting, and lovingly holding, her baby bump.
7 Natalie Portman & Benjamin Millepied
Natalie Portman and her LA-based choreographer husband, Benjamin Millepied, say their marriage works so well because they “keep work very separate.” It seems to be working, as the pair have been married since 2012 and together even longer, having a son during their dating period.
However, there have been rumors the past few months about the marriage heading for possible divorce. The couple have declined to comment, and appear to be doing well – and have even announced a 2nd pregnancy.
Fans first found out about Natalie Portman’s 2nd pregnancy when she was on the red carpet in September for the Planetarium premier and revealed her baby bump. Although it appears that she is quite far along, she told Jimmy Kimmel in late November that she still has “months to go” in her pregnancy. The baby will join the couple’s 5-year-old son, Aleph.
6 Genevieve & Jared Padalecki
Gilmore Girls actor Jared Padalecki and his wife, Genevieve, revealed in November that they are expecting their 3rd child in 2017. The new baby will have two older brothers, Thomas, 4, and Shepherd, 2.
The couple, who have been engaged since 2010 and married later that year, are one of the most low-key couples in Hollywood, but also a favorite of Gilmore Girls fans everywhere. In fact, Jared’s fans gushed about his winter-themed Idaho wedding, complete with snow, decorative snowflakes, and winter sprigs. They even gush over YouTube videos of the wedding, complimenting the “adorable” couple.
Although the gender hasn’t yet been revealed, the baby will surely have two protective brothers watching over him or her. Genevieve has been taking time off at home to prepare them – and herself - for their new sibling and create a steady routine for school.
5 Irina Shayk & Bradley Cooper
Actor Bradley Cooper and his girlfriend of a year and a half, Victoria’s Secret model Irina Shayk, are expecting their first child together. Reps for both celebrities have declined to comment on the pregnancy, but sources close to the couple have leaked the news.
Despite rumors several months ago that the couple were splitting after Irina was seen wiping what appeared to be a tear from her eye during a conversation with Bradley, they’re apparently still going strong. Sources close to the couple say Cooper is very protective of Irina, and there’s even been reports of an engagement.
However, in the true fashion of this couple, the engagement has not yet been confirmed either. Still, Irina will have a difficult time hiding a ring and her baby bump soon, as fans have noticed her bulging belly even in her most recent Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
4 Christina & David Arquette
David Arquette and his wife, Christina, are expecting their 2nd child together, a baby boy. Arquette made the announcement in an Instagram video, excited for the newest addition to the family. The couple have a 2-year-old son, Charlie, and Arquette has a 12-year-old daughter, Coco, with his ex-wife, Courtney Cox Arquette.
Arquette seems to be super happy at this exciting news. The video he posted on Instagram was of his son, Charlie, holding an ultrasound photo of his new brother. In the video, Charlie says “Hi baby! Hi brother!” The caption read “So incredibly blessed and honored that my wife @christinaarquette is pregnant with a baby boy! Thank you Christina and humbled gratitude to G-D for this tremendous gift! Charlie and Coco are so excited, and I am over the moon!!!”
3 Sarah Roemer & Chad Michael Murray
Chad Michael Murray and his wife, Sarah Roemer, leaked their pregnancy news in November after Roemer shared a photo in Instagram showing off her small baby bump. The couple, who wed in January 2015, have a 1 ½ year-old son together.
The couple has remained very hush-hush about their relationship in general, even keeping their current son’s name a secret from the public. However, they did announce in early December that they are expecting a girl this time around. No name has been reported yet, and it likely will remain a secret like her big brother’s.
Sarah’s belly was very evident during a walk down the red carpet with Murray for the GQ’s Men of the Year party. Murray even stopped on the carpet for a photo op – while kissing his wife’s belly!
2 Molly McNearney & Jimmy Kimmel
Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel announced on his December 5th show that he and his wife, Molly McNearney, are expecting a child whose gender they decided to be surprised with. The couple have a daughter, Jane, 2, together, and Kimmel has two older children from a previous marriage.
Jimmy Kimmel has been making plenty of jokes about the pregnancy since announcing it, but what else would we expect from him? During the announcement, he told the audience, “So – there’s a lot of exciting stuff going on. Congratulations to me. I’m hosting the Oscars and I had sex. Two things as a teenage boy I never thought would be possible.”
But, all jokes aside, Kimmel is thrilled about the newest addition and can’t wait to be surprised at the birth when he and his wife finally find out the baby’s sex.
1 Keshia Knight Pulliam & Ex Ed Hartwell
Although the former The Cosby Show star, Pulliam, and her husband, Ed Hartwell, have filed for divorce in July after less than 8 months of marriage, they’re due to have a baby girl anytime now. Pulliam, who announced that her daughter’s name will be Ella Grace, has said that Hartwell has denied their unborn daughter and has threatened to attempt to cause her to miscarry.
The whirlwind romance has turned especially sour in recent months, with “he said, she said” fights in the news. Hartwell denies causing, or threatening to cause, any physical or emotional harm to Pulliam and her baby. Still, Pulliam remains steadfast in her allegations.
Pulliam has since announced her baby girl’s name will be Ella Grace. She is focusing her attention on her pregnancy and sharing her joy with her fans. She even shared her most recent sonogram on Instagram, saying that she’s “eternally grateful” for her daughter.
