Some things about pregnancy are just a bad-or-worse type situation. There is no winner when it comes to the inevitable and unavoidable bodily changes. Of course, most women just learn to rock these changes, no matter how self conscious it makes them feel. Despite the semi-acceptance, there is always a level of hatred for these bodily changes that come with pregnancy.

However, it is hard to say what changes women hate more: the changes that happen around the chest, or those around the rear end of the body? All we know for sure is that the melons and peaches will never be the same after the 9 month journey of pregnancy.

From saggy breasts to a stretched out butt, the bodily changes around these two prime areas of the female body aren’t a walk in the park. No matter how many squats, stretches, and exercise you do throughout pregnancy, they are going to change from how they used to be. Yeah, you can thank the hormones for that one.

On everyone’s individual pregnancy journey, there are changes that you just hate. Here are 12 of hated bodily changes that most women can agree on. The journey for the melons and peaches throughout pregnancy, to put it plainly, just sucks!

12 Melons - Skinny Jeans Are Gone

Those skinny jeans that make the hips look great and tone the butt once they are squeezed on past the thighs - they are a staple in so many wardrobes. Well, they can be pushed to the back of the drawers after 5 months of pregnancy. They just aren’t going to make it past the butt anymore.

Now, if you were brave enough to wear skinny jeans in the first 5 months of pregnancy, you deserve a pat on the back. With the bodily changes that have already started happening before the 5 month mark, many women opt for immediate maternity comfort - and skinny jeans do not make it into this category. As for post-5 months of pregnancy, they really just shouldn’t be an option. No pregnant butt wants to suck up just for fashion’s sake. Hello, leggings and active wear!

11 Peaches - Hello New Bra Size, Again

Since the time that puberty hits in those awkward adolescent days, nothing is ever the same again. This is especially true for the chest area. What once was completely flat and had no bouncing issues when running around the school playground, now has large, fatty deposits making everything just a little more complicated.

Throughout a female’s life, the breasts change regularly. With hormonal changes and fluctuations to weight gain and metabolism changes, the breasts sure do go through a lot. Therefore, changing bra sizes happens quite regularly. And just when you think things have stabilised and you’ve found the ideal size, along comes pregnancy. This means that more hormones are going to pump the girls out, and the breast milk production is going to make them enhance even more. Time for a new size, maternity style!

10 Melons - The Moon Goes Flat

The most obvious thing that happens with pregnancy is that the butt starts getting bigger. It loses some plumpness and probably won’t be as firm as it was before that egg and sperm met in the fallopian tubes. However, there is something else that unfortunately happens to the butt during pregnancy.

Not only does it lose that shapeliness it might have once had, the butt also goes flat. It essentially loses a bunch of muscle and tissue thanks to the crazy hormones that are putting on a party around the body. This makes the butt actually look flat, but also bigger. This is how we end up with the saggy effect at the rear end during pregnancy! No one ever said it was a glamorous time.

9 Peaches - The Sensitive Melons, At The Wrong Time

The girls are known for many to be a sensitive, even erogenous area. They can be a real source of pleasure in the bedroom and not many women complain with this little turn on spot. However, when it comes to pregnancy, the sensitivity of the girls is not going to do everyone involved favors.

The hormonal changes and the increased amount of estrogen in the body throughout pregnancy mean that the breasts are prone to sensitivity, whenever they deem necessary. So it won’t just be in a moment of passion, but the breasts can decide just when you’re getting ready for work or driving in the car to strike with a sensitive discomfort. It won’t necessarily be painful, but it won’t be pleasant either. The girls do what they want throughout pregnancy!

8 Melons - All The Lunges Make No Difference

Lunge, lunge, and lunge again, in the hope that that butt will get some tone and shape back to it. This is one common approach to handling the despised bodily changes that happen during pregnancy. While lunging is great during pregnancy, as exercise should be part of a regular routine over this crazy 9 months, unfortunately it just won’t make the difference that women are hoping for.

Lunging is an effective butt-toning workout, but not when it has to try and jump all the hormones that are in the body. In the case of pregnancy, hormones trump exercise and lunges and that is just going to get bigger and saggy. It is no reason not to lunge, however. The work you put in now will have an impact once the baby is out...it’ll just take even longer than normal to see the results. On the plus side, your legs will look great from all the lunges!

7 Peaches - Color Changes

Along with the many other changes going on around the chest area, it isn’t just the size and shape that are changing for the girls. The breasts are known to get bigger, plumper, and harder throughout pregnancy. First of all, this is due to the increased estrogen flowing around. Later in the final trimester, it is because of the production of breast milk getting ready to breastfeed the baby.

However, you’re going to notice other changes, not just to the breasts but also to the nipples. The color and size of the nipples will change. They will get larger than they ever have been. Where they were once a pinky color, the pigmentation around the nipples will start turning closer to a brown color. Nothing to worry about, just the hormones doing what they do best - wreaking havoc in their pathway!

6 Melons - Hormones Make It Hurt

There are some pretty wacky hormones making the rounds through the body during pregnancy. These are something that no one can control and they will do what they like with the female body. It isn’t fair, but we can all thank biology for this adaptation. Of course, the hormones do have an important role in sustaining the female body for fetal growth. But do they really have to mess everything up?

The answer is apparently yes. The hormones, as well as making the butt saggy and fat, also cause pain in the coccyx muscle. This pain is due to the excessive amount of estrogen in the body, combined with the release of relaxin in the later stages of trimester three. Relaxin is there to make the pelvic muscles relax for contractions, but they also make the coccyx ache like it’s no one’s business. Sitting down just got less appealing!

5 Peaches - For Comfort, Not Fashion

Once upon a time, sports bras were worn for exercising, or for wanting to look cool in active wear. Whatever works. Nowadays, with pregnancy, they are purely for necessity and comfort. Forget about the cool colors, the extra strappy ones, or the ones with the best brands. Pregnant women are keen just for a stock standard sports bra, without an underwire and no sexiness - just the comfort element.

Wearing a sports bra offers more support and comfort to the breasts during pregnancy. Just for everyday wear, a sports bra is way more comfortable than a clip up bra with an underwire. They offer less pressure on the breasts. Also, sports bras are more breathable. Given the increased blood flow that is happening around the body during pregnancy and the more sweat as a result, wearing a sports bra can cut out the boob sweat factor.

4 Melons - White Girl 'Behind' Syndrome

We all know about that Black Girl Booty that gives women of color class, status, and a rocking bod to dance to. However, when this kind of butt is on a white girl, it just doesn’t have the same effect. Yet, pregnancy really wants to try it out, just for laughs, apparently.

So as the butt gets bigger throughout the 9 months of pregnancy, a thing called White Girl Butt Syndrome starts happening. It doesn’t make you dance any better, it doesn’t make you look stylish and sexy, but it is there nonetheless. You can’t avoid it, so you’ve just gotta rock it best you can. This ‘syndrome’ really does rule out wearing jeans of any kind, and wearing leggings will enhance it. But most of the time in pregnancy, comfort wins over style. So wear those leggings with all the confidence you like!

3 Peaches - That Itchy Feeling

There is nothing more frustrating than having an itch that simply can’t be scratched. It can cause irritation, frustration, and make the mood just generally pissed off. So of course this would happen during pregnancy, especially to an area that is increasingly sensitive, right.

For whatever reason to do with hormones and blood level changes in the body, the area around the breasts become super itchy at random moments. This kind of goes hand in hand with the sensitivity that pregnancy brings on. It is just a general itch, but it is like having an itch on your toe when you’re wearing socks and shoes. It is difficult to scratch, and awkward to get to. Short of sticking a ruler down there and poking around, you can’t do much. Hooray for pregnancy.

2 Melons - All Around The Rear End

This is perhaps one of the worst side effects of pregnancy - varicose veins. Call them spider veins or whatever goes, they are just an unsightly mess. Unfortunately, due to the hormonal changes and the increased blood flow around the body, they are almost unavoidable. Not much can fix them so they’ve just gotta be dealt with.

One of the areas that they like to pop at different points throughout the 9 months of pregnancy is on the butt. Just in case the butt wasn’t already going through enough, now there are big, painful, blue veins sticking out and making everything more difficult. Women really can’t catch a break - not even after the baby is born! Plenty of massage and bio-oil around the veins will help ease some of the discomfort. And they do go away once the baby is out!

1 Peaches - Third Trimester Leakiness

As the beginning of the end nears and trimester three kicks into gear, there are mixed feelings. Things are getting closer to being over, but there are still many hurdles to jump over before that baby comes sliding into the world. Of course, the breasts are affected greatly by this last trimester. During the final months, the milk production glands are kicking into gear and starting to pump around some delicious and nutritious baby food.

What this means is that some leaks can happen. Since there is no baby to suckle at the nipples and reap the benefits of the breast milk, sometimes it just drips out on its own accord when things are too full. This can be awkward and embarrassing when you look down and notice two patches worse than sweat patches. Or worse, when you don’t notice and someone else does. Dark colored top, anyone?
