My nephew had a few (serious) bleeds while in the NICU (24 weeker). He's 5 now and there's no lasting neurological problems. Good luck, I'm sure everything will turn out fine. He's adorable. What hospital are you guys at?

I don't have any information. Sorry.

But I just wanted to say your LO is precious. Maybe if I chat with you a little bit it will keep your thread bumped.

hello, my son was born 3 months early. after he was born they found he had a level 4 hemorrhage in/on his brain. he went thru 9 brain surgeries to have many shunts placed which either failed or got infected due to the hospital. finally we got sick of the hospital and had him transferred to a better hospital. when he got there they immediately did an MRI, which the last hospital all they did was a cat scan and said there were only 2 blood pockets, the results of the MRI came back and they described his brain as looking like a soccer ball there were so many blood pockets opened up. they immediately took him in for operation and did one surgery to take out the shunt and hook up an external shunt to keep the draining going and another to connect many shunt lines to each blood pocket. then they put in the main shunt to connect all the shunts together. after they did this, he hasn't had any problems with his shunt since. he is now 3 yrs old, will be turning 4 in november. he has had total 12 brain surgeries. i wish when he was born we had just gone to the hospital we go to now. i hope the best for you and stay strong. you never know whats going to happen. research into what the doctors tell you because it may turn into a situation like mine. i trusted the last doctor because i've never been thru anything like this, we've come a long way with him. he has severe brain damage now due to all the blood, and he now has epilepsy/infantile spasms again due to the blood. he also has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, from the brain damage. this is something that is not guaranteed to happen to you. just really be careful with doctors. i hope to hear from you soon. we can share experiences.

well my daughter passed away she was born at 23 weeks and she had grade 3 brain bleed. all the nurses would tell me the she was going to have problems like cerebral palsy. But her doctor told me as long as she doesn't get water in the brain she would be ok. that's all i could tell you, good luck mamas you have a cute baby:)
