A very active baby in the womb? Mrs. Banks [Griffin's mom TTC since Jan 2012; 1 child; 1 angel baby; Warminster, Pennsylvania 3910 posts

I started feeling flutters at around 16/17 weeks and kicks around 19/20 weeks. It wasn't until I hit around 22 weeks that I started to feel my son move regularly. I noticed my SIL's baby, who is 6 weeks a head of me, doesn't move quite as much. She mentioned there were days she wouldn't feel much movement at all, and it was like a hugesurpriseif her baby would move for more then a few minutes. I feel my son constantly. He kicks me while I lay on my side before I go to sleep. He's moving around once I wake up. He's kicking my cervix while I eat breakfast. And while I'm at work, he's tapping me from all angles, especially if I bump onto something. So is it okay that he is this active? I'm curious because it seems like he never sleeps. I read online that an active fetus is good. But then I read that an active fetus will lead to an irritable infant and will sleep poorly. And it also said that mothers with lots of stress (usually those that work) will have more active babies. What are your thoughts and/or experiences?

My LO is the same way, I think it's pretty normal.
Some babies are just more active than others.

your sil isn't feeling as much movement b/c the baby doesn't have as much room to move around like yours does. the further along you get the less movement you'll feel

My son was super active in the womb! It was nuts. He would move all night long, even while I slept.
When he was born he was 9lbs 1oz. He was so big and was so cramped in there that I felt every little movement he made.
He was a great sleeper the first 2 months. He's 5 months old now and is a very laid back baby. He's quite active and is starting to crawl already but he's super happy and is not a very fussy baby. I have some sleep issues with him at night but nothing out of the ordinary.
