Quoting [Boats&Hoes]:" It first started before his 2 month appt and I asked the pedi, but she said she didn't see anything. ... [snip!] ... had the same white spot for a few months now. He even had it when the Dr checked him. Should I go and get my nipples checked?"

hmm well there are some white spots that can appear in a baby's mouth that are harmless, like Epstein's pearls or Bohn's Nodules.. Usually thrush will be on the tongue and/or the inside of the lips, and once they get it, it usually spreads. But your LO may be one of the lucky ones not susceptible to thrush. If you're still burning and uncomfortable I would get checked just to be safe and give you some peace of mind... and if it is thrush you should get some nyastin cream hopefully.

Some of the time though the burning or hurting can just be from an improper latch. Are you cracked and dry at all? Or just red, itchy or inflamed? What does your let down feel like?

He has got really lazy with his latch. He's a thumb sucker, so sometimes he'll try to suck like it's his thumb. I'll keep taking him off and putting him back on until he latches right. I don't feel dry. I've been putting lanolin and letting my nips air dry hoping it would help, but no such luck.

sometimes too you can get them on right but then they squirm around and pull and squeeze the boob which can create a bad latch. Has he started to get more alert on the breast? That could be a factor too. Or just the way you are holding them can affect it too. Like if they are not laying right up against you and are sort of just lazing on you, it can start to hurt after awhile.

He does squirm a lot and is starting to bite and pull back. I try to unlatch him if I don't feel him suckling. and I usually nurse him in the side lying position. He'll eat for awhile in any other position, then start screaming like he's in pain.

Hi. I'm a first time poster here and I really need some help. I am trying to wean my son from formula to the breast exclusively. He's been mixed fed since he was born. He gets maybe 10 oz of formula a day. This is always after he's been nursed. We had gotten all the way down to just a few oz a day and then he must have hit a growth spurt of something because he would not be satisfied with just breastmilk. The last time I tried to go cold turkey was a disaster! I don't know if it's a supply issue or stress or what. I'm open to any ideas. TIA

During a growth spurt, I don't like to supplement at all. Yeah, he's a little fussy because he wants more milk and doesn't want to wait for my body to produce it, but it pays off in the long run because I tend to up my supply. I'd say to put him to the breast more often (even if he's not hungry) so he can suckle and stimulate it.

Quoting dream:" how old is he and how is it going now?"

He's 4 months old now. It's still going pretty rough. He only gets about 12 oz of formula a day. And it's usually during the middle of the day from 12 to 4pm. Morning and Evening feedings tend to go well. Mid day however he gets really fussy and fights me at the breast. I burp him in between breasts.

how often does he nurse? how long? can you try and pump some and offer that if you have to offer a bottle instead of the formula?

He nurses 12 plus times a day. Sometimes I loose count. He nurses about 20 minutes or so at a time. I don't own an electric pump, just a hand pump. I usually only get about 4oz pumped per day and I tried to pump a lot. It's just frustrating because I really want to dump the formula all together.

first time poster on here, not looking for advice just wanting to share.

i'm on my 3rd kid and this is my first time breastfeeding. he will be 4 weeks on friday & he is ebf. i plan on bfing as long as i can. i didn't bf my first two bc i thought it would be hard & i called myself lazy - but bfing is so much easier than doing formula! i love it. i am obsessed with bfing my baby lol. i am also pumping to get a good frozen supply going for when i return to school in august. also as much as i LOVE bfing, i am not comfortable in public yet so we use bottles when we're out. super excited that i got 5oz from one boob this morning! :D for any new moms coming here looking for tips on how to BF i must say that it comes naturally. it's great bonding and i can't get enough of it haha.

that's a great amount of nursing and just fine length of time. Do you think you could just cut out the formula and just give boob? I would think with all that nursing he would be getting enough already of just breastmilk. Then if he wanted/needed more, instead of formula, it would signal your body to produce more.
