I pump exclusively because my daughter does not latch, and I woke up a couple hours ago and pumped and the breast milk from my left breast was completely red. My nipple is not cracked or bleeding...just wondering what this could be???
have you been eating alot of things with red dyes in it recently??
No clue but I would call your dr.
The only thing that comes to mind is blood, maybe call your pedi or doc.
I have NEVER heard of that. Busted capillaries maybe?
The apocalypse o_o
Lol sorry it was the first thing to come to mind. I've actually never heard of that. Scary
i havent eaten anything with a ton of red...but i think it would have been in both breasts if that were the case. and i called the pedi and they didnt seem concerned and she said it may be a popped blood vessel...but i feel no pain in that breast, so i just dont think that is it. they told me to call back tomorrow if it was still red.

Its blood. Even if you cant see the blood on the outside of the nipple, you could be bleeding in the duct itself. It only takes a very small amount of blood to dye all the milk.

It could very likely be a bust cappilary in your breast. No need to stop feeding or pumping from that breast. If the LO refuses that side, just be sure to pump it.
You might have 'popped' something inside... Happened to me once, and only out of one boob...
Just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesnt' get worse etc..!
