I'm 33 weeks and 3 days along and I'm 1 cm dilated but not in active labor. I've been having little pains and cramps like maybe my baby is dropping but I'm worried about knowing whether or not I'm dilating any further. I'm suppose to have a repeat c section around 39 weeks, so if I'm dilating, the docs will have to stop it but i just moved to FL so i haven't gotten a new ob/gyn yet. Is it possible that I've dilated further even if i haven't had contractions? Should i check for dilation? I know thats not safe though! I don't want to start dilating this early and not know it.
the docs will stop your dilating (as much as ispossible) but not because you have a scheduled csec in 6 week. theyll stop it because its not safe quite yet for your baby.
yea you can dilate with out contractions. just the pressure from the babys head can dilate you. and they say if its not your first baby most women never completly close any ways and are around a cm dilated.you can be dilated for a very very long time! i know women who have walked around for 2-3 weeks 3 and 4 cm dilated!
I dilated to a 3 1/2 cm without any contractions...I walked around 2 weeks dilated to a 3 before going in full blown labor haha

but how will i know if i don't have a doc yet to get checked? i still have to get insurance and then find a doc, by then I''ll be so far through my pregnancy. i know i cant check myself, even if it was safe, since i wouldn't be able to reach way up there! lol
Yep, my sister got to a 7 and hadn't felt any contractions, mind you that was also her third baby - it practically fell out.
