Quoting Will☮Creedence:" Some of the nurses here are seriously so rude like I'm here on a daily basis I do the same thing every ... [snip!] ... What the hell do they expect to happpen when I take him home with me? He's MY child I am capable of doing minor tasks for him!"

I would actually complain to the head nurse when nurses treat you like that, a NICU stay is hard enough on us moms to not have to deal with nurses attitudes. Thankfully I only had one bad experience with a nurse, and I complained and she never dealt with my daughter again. I still remember the day like it was yesterday. My husband was holding Anya, and she went into a spell, and by this time, I knew things I could do to try to get her out of it, but nothing I was doing was working, and her nurse was on the phone, and I am trying to get her attention while all the alarms are going off, and she waves me off while on the phone and walks away from the noise. The head nurse was already on her way over because of the alarms, and I freaked, I said her phone call is more f**king important than my daughter I said she could have died because of her incompetence. Later on she tried apologizing to me and I just glared at her.

This is amazing for all preemie moms, thank you all. I am a proud mamma of Aurora Mae. Her due date was March 4 she was born on January 8. She was born at 32 weeks gestation and weighed in at 3 pounds 10 ounces. It's been six weeks and although she is still in the NICU at Arnot Ogdon she weighs a whopping 6 pounds 3.6 ounces. She grew out of her first preemie outfit and i almost cried. She has a test tomorrow to see why she is still having bradiacardias.

I saw a family freak out over the alarms too. Idk what happened but all the nurses were busy and all her alarms were going off and nobody was coming and the dad just started freaking out and yelling for someone. I felt so bad and so did SO. He saw the dad in the waiting room later crying. He was worried the whole to the room cause he thought maybe the baby had died since we had been gone. Both our hearts sank. Luckily she was still there. But my god I can't imagine. Idk if the nurses are just so used to random stat drops that they tune out alarms or what. DDs would go off cause her hb would go past 220 during a tantrum and they never came to check her.

He was small for his gestational age at 4 lbs 2 1/2 oz. At the beginning he had tummy troubles. I don't know if it was found why, but he couldn't keep anything down at all for the first few days. Other than that he was fantastic. His blood sugars, his temperature, his breathing were all perfect.

I got this earlier this morning!

Creedence latched on last night!!!

IMG_20130224_183833.jpg
He's been showing signs for a few days of being ready like waking up before his feeding time and looking around/ rooting, opening his mouth really wide and sweeping his head around etc.
So when I got there yesterday it was just about time for his feeding so I pumped really quick(I had just pumped at home) and we put him on me right before she started his feeding. He took a few minutes of trying but was an instant pro!!!!! He had a little trouble on the right side but when I put him on the left side he stayed latched on for about 5 straight minutes before he fell asleep lol. My left side is a lot smaller so I think that's why he had an easier time.
He kept his O2 up the entire time, but a few minutes after he fell asleep it started dipping really low so they just had to turn up his oxygen a little bit.
I totally cried as soon as I felt the first few sucks. It was amazing!!!

Also, he has been sitting right under 4 lbs at 3lbs 15.9 oz for 3 days now lol but they just started him on dieretics because he was gathering fluid in his lungs and body so he's still gaining body mass he's just losing a TON of unwanted fluid which is why his weight is staying the same. Since they've started the dieretics his breathing has improved x100!! He got right off the cpap to a high flow cannula and was down to 23% oxygen from 40% (21% is what we breathe). So I'm thinking after another day or two he'll be down to the regular cannula.
And some more pictures

Yesterday when he latched he would have been 33w2d :D and all the doctors told me it would be impossible before 34-35 weeks but I knew he'd be able to do it sooner. Only reason it took him this long was because of his breathing problems we couldn't really try.
He was trying to go at it again tonight but because of his O2 dips last night after he did it I didn't want to try again for a few days.
