I dont like my doctor!! Alicia[MommyToBe]Smith Due September 15; Illinois 7 posts

So im 18 weeks pregnant with my first child & couldnt be happier =) but when i went to see my actual doctor for the first time yesterday i was really disappointed. she seemed to be really cold and straight forward. she kinda just speed through all the information without even pausing to see if i had questions. then it can to my pap and she didnt really seem to care about my comfort at all and was so rough that i was sore and cramping the rest of the day.. i was so glad to get out of there! my next appointment isnt for 4 weeks, which is plenty enough time to find a new doctor but im wondering if i should give it another chance.. i mean maybe i caught her on a bad day... but at the same time i feel she should still be friendly regaurdless of what kind of day she was having prior to my appointment... thoughts? feelings? what should i do??

baby doctors tend to speed through appointments...are you seeing a mid-wife? mine seems to take more time with me. but regardless, your doc should still take time to answer questions. id try another doctor. you can always go back to your original doctor if you change your mind.

I would give her another chance.

I felt like sometimes my OBGYN speed through my appointments but he always stop and asked how I was doing or feeling and made it really comfortable.

Definitely find another Doc. Bad day or not, it was your first appointment with her and she should have been sensitive to that fact. Considering how hard it is to get an appointment with an OB (atleast it is for me), I would start looking immediately.

I had a midwife and I love her! She's so sweet. She always hugs me when she sees me and she feels kind of like a mom. Maybe you should try to find one. I had a great experience with mine

Thanks for all the feed back! i'm still not exactly sure what to do though.. i mean it may not sound too bad, but i literally speed walked out of that place! lol also does anyone know the policy with students being in the room during a pap? there was the doctor plus two other people... i was also sore and cramping for a few hours after it was over, which has never happened after a pap, but ive never had one while pregnant before.. let me know ladies, thanks!

they should have asked you if it was okay for the students to be in there. i always get stuck with students and i feel rude saying they cant be in there. lol
