thick ear wax Letha ❥ Ally+1more 2 kids; Florida 23669 posts

I was looking at my daughter's ears this morning and there was a puddle of thick almost orange wax just inside her canal, and some pooling out. I wash the opening of her ear canal while in the tub and use safety q-tips about once a week, sometimes twice if we've been outside a lot in the dirt. Is it something I should call her pedi about? Maybe that it's drainage from an ear infection or something. And how should I remove it? I'm obviously not sticking a regular q-tip in there and it wasn't coming out when I tried to wipe it with a tissue.

just use a q tip or the tip of a washcloth to clean the area in her outer canal .... so as not to push any wax inside ... i was told that is natural drainage and it is a good thing

If you are still worried about it, Letha, do talk to the pedi. There is drops that can be put in to losen it up. I know because we have it for Marc and now for X.

Trinity's ears are the same way. I just try to use a q-tip when it's on the outside. Wetting the q-tip with water to get it out helps too.
