so cade is up coughing. hes sleeping on the couch propped up by all the pillows. he took a hot shower with all the steam. and hes still coughing. I gave him some robutussin but im debating with myself whether or not ginger ale might help break up the gunk in his throat so he can fall asleep??

hes only had a sip of soda in his life.. so im afriad it will give him a tummy ache... but hes 2 1/2 years old. do you think a couple ounces of it will do any harm to his tummy? ginger ale always makes me feel BETTER.

If you honestly think it'll work, you should try it.
One time wont hurt him.

I've given my kids ginger ale when they have tummy aches. Give him some and see if it helps.

I can't say it works for throat's/flem build up (other than a little soothing on the throat.
BUT I can tell you that in the last month I have had to give it to my son, admittedly far more often than I would Like (which is once or twice a month at most for any Pop, & no cola, or caffeinated, Ginger Ale isn't Caffeinated here), but regularly, because that is the ONLY thing that he can keep down when he has a Migraine. No he can't keep down Gravol, even if I get him to keep it in for 10-20 minuetes It & everything else in his poor little tummy (& usually all that's in there is Gastric Juices/bile) comes right back out.
So if you think it will help I say Go for it!!

How is he this morning Mary? If you give it to him, or if you did and ever do again, I would just shake it a bit first, to flatten it a bit.... its the carbonation that gives belly aches the most, so just get right of some of it!
