Fever/chills a wk after giving birth? *Aydan&Brooklyn-MyHeart* 50 kids; Asheboro, North Carolina 321 posts

Last night I stood up to go into our kitchen when I started having cold chills outta no where after I had just been sweating. Actually I still was sweating. Anyway, I went and sat down and covered up cause I felt like I was freezing but my skin felt hot. So I took my temp, it was 99.9. Everytime I moved, I'd shiver. Well about 30 mins later I decided to take my temp again and it was 100.5. I bundled up and got into bed and took some tylenol in hopes my temp would go down, it did, about an hour later I checked it and it was 98.9.

SIL thought it was because my milk's coming in, Idk if that's the case.

Anyone ever experienced this before?

It could be related to breastfeeding. But that would more likely be a breast infection not just milk coming in. .

If it hapens again I would deff call ur doctor. You could be getting an infection and that is life threatning. I never heard of getting a temp because ur milk is coming in...

kidney infection maybe! I went though the same thing. My SO was sweating b/c our apt is always so hot and I had 2 thick blankets on so we knew something was wrong. Go get checked..could become serious if that's what it is.

That happened to me after I had my first. Once my milk really started coming in (I didn't BF either), it seemed to coincide. Nothing serious, just some chills and strange feelings, slight fever. I think it had to do with the hormones trying to re-regulate, and the blood you are losing, everything is trying to return to normal. Also, my lymph gland under my right armpit was really swollen and sore to the touch from the milk coming in, though it went away after a day or two.
If it does keep up, check with your doctor for sure!

Thanks ladies!

I might call the OB on call at the hospital and ask to see what they say...
