I'm glad to see that for the most part things are going well...
I'm sorry for those of you who have been dealing with all kinds of frustrations!
I can understand how you feel...
However, life has gotten much better for me.
I threw in the towel and started eating my carbs like a regular person, and drinking my gingerale when I felt sick, and I am PROUD to report that 90% of my MS is gone!
I went to my Primary Care Physician on Monday to ask her what SHE thought about this nonsense about cutting my thyroid meds in HALF, and this crazy diet that CNM wanted me on... She said "NO WAY!" to both.
My BP is fabulous, my sugar is back in a reasonable zone (remember, I'm hypoglycemic) and I feel much better.
I got a call yesterday from the CNM apologizing for making medical decisons WAY BEYOND HER SPECIALTY AND PAYGRADE. She actually said, "I just want to apologize to you for putting you and your pregnancy at risk. You are a very special case, and I shouldn't have made those decisions without consulting your doctor and endocrinologist. I just want to say thank you for persuing this and getting a second opinion. I was wrong."
And THIS is why I love Kasier Permanete.
I can ALWAYS count on my PCP to stand by me and make things right.
Kaiser WILL admit when their people are wrong. Luckily, in this case there were no ill effects (except for my discomfort from the diet) and everything is good.
That CNM has faced a repremand and came close to losing her job.
Today I went for genetic counseling... Everything looks great :)
I got to see and hear the heartbeat.
I cried, that was the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
My little blinking dot. I called my husband and said "YOU WOULDN"T BELIEVE HOW COOL OUR DOT IS NOW!!!" And it is. I can tell its the coolest kid on our block already :)
Sarahbeth~ I'm really sorry you had to deal with all of that. I hope that things work out for the best, even though you have to have more blood work done.
MommyMeri~ I'm so glad that you got things straightened out with your CNM and that she apologized to you. It was wrong of her to put you in risk that way. I'm just glad to hear that things are going good.
As for me...I had an ultrasound today to check growth and she's now up to 4lbs 8oz which puts her in the 40-something percentile on her growth. I was so glad to hear that because at 28wks she was in the 20th. My blood pressure was like 84/56 so I don't have to worry about that. I go back for my regular visit on Monday so I'll let everyone know how things are going then. I hope everyone else is doing good.
On a good note- baby a (aka Mara) is 2 lbs. 14 oz. and baby b (Lily) is 3 lbs. 1 oz. I'm excited that they're getting so big! My doc wants me to keep 'em cooking for another 4 weeks, but I'm hoping for 8. We'll just have to wait and see!
Its good to know I'm not alone!!!! Thanks for starting this post. I'm 8 wks and already 230 lbs.
I'm gone for awhile come back and it takes me forever to find this post!! Hope figuring this "new update" out get easier!! Well I'm just a little over 27 weeks, haven't gained any weight the past three weeks and really starting to show:D!!! I just wanted to share my news...LOL! Hope eveyone has a good week

I would suggest using Dermalogica Anti-Bac face wash, Multi Purpose toner, and O2 uptake serum (very little) as moisturizer. If you can get the Daily Micro foliant, but its not absolutely necessary.
I have had some hellacious breakouts (and I have ALWAYS had porcelain skin that was clear) and I had to start breaking out the big guns with the Dermalogica products.
Lucky for me I am an esthetics student, so professional skincare products are easily at my disposal. However, I can tell you that one weekend I used some Cetaphil and Aveno products from the drug store only to MAKE MY FACE WORSE! ( My face has almost cleared completely with the Dermalogica.
Your pimples are from a change in hormones which makes a change in oil production. You'll probably notice that your pores are larger now too.
If you are totally broke and unable to invest in the skincare mentioned, you can always try purchasing Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask from the drugstore... Its not something you want to use more than 1-2 a week, but it may give you some relief. Its not the best, and can't sustain beautiful skin, but it can at least help.just clean your face really well, and put the mask on and go to bed with it on. It will feel totally gross at first, but most of it will slough off at night (its a drying mask) and you'll have to change your sheets in the morning, but your skin should look and feel better.

I am so happy for the health of you and your baby that you knew that she was giving you bad advice. That is great that she addmitted she was wrong. Enjoy your ginger ale and carbs!!!!!!

I have been having trouble with breaking out, it
comes and goes. One thing I have always had is very good skin. A couple
weeks ago my face looked awful but it's gotten a little better.
Also have been having hives. I found out I was all the sudden allergic
to any kind of seafood (lived off of seafood and tacos before I got
I have lost a little over 20 pounds since I got pregnant. My doctor seems fine with it.
I too am a plus sized mommy to be. My prepregnancy weight was 270ish (I think) I had lost about 30 pounds last year before my wedding in Oct, but since then I know I had gained some back.. but hadnt been on a scale in a while. I am now 18 weeks tomorrow, and have only gained like 3 pounds.. and usually the day I weigh I end up feeling sick and lose those three pounds again.! I already ahve a baby belly... as big as some of you who are much further along then I am.. but it isnt an even one.. ahahahah.. so I am looking forward to having my belly button line expand out to make top and bottom match. (I am one of the lucky plus sized girls who carries the "tire" over her butt.. thats where most of my weight is)
My midwife was great when I met her. She said right off the bat that we didnt need to worry about my weight, and that she would go by the babies progression and my uterus growth to see how things are progressing. Not once has she told me what I can and cannot eat.. which is a godsend.. becuase i have had ALOT of food aversions.. many that still havent gone away!
I am hoping to take a few belly shots this weekend, and our next ultrasound is Monday.. YAY! Hopefully the little one will be agreeable and show us the goods :)
Its so nice to see you all on here! This thread actually convinced me to join the forums, not just get the newsletter!

shit, i'd be happy if i was ur weight lol...trust me, if i'm not endangering my baby being bigger than u, then u have nothing to worry bout...and if ur doctor is being unreasonable or making u feel uncomfortable, u need to speak with them about it, and if they don't change their tune, get another doc

[snip!] ... before I got pregnant, but I also don't think that these extra few pounds are that big a deal...am I wrong?I don't see you as harming you're child at all! My midwife made me feel really bad for gaining too much weight, she told me that I was fat (yes in those words) and that I was going to have a fat child if I didn't put myself on a strict diet. Fortunately, she dropped it after that and hasn't said a word about my weight since. I would have to say, that being 15 pounds over the "healthy weight" is perfectly fine:)
