So my boyfriend/baby daddy is thinking about joining the marines to make our families life better by having a stable income and benefits. Well my question is were not married and were about to have a baby together if he was to join the marines would I be able to move with him where ever they stationed him? I know that if he went over seas I wouldn't be able to but my friend that is in the Navy said that since he is going to have a child and is held legally responsible for her that they will give him a housing allowance and not make him stay in the barracks and that way he would get an apartment near the base and that way I could live with him. I was just wondering if that is completely true?? She said that there is a lot of couples that are like this there not married but have a kid together and one is in the service and they still live together.

He will get paid for dependents once your child is born. You can go with him if he is allowed to live off base... but as a low ranking marine he may not be able to. Also, he would have to have primary custody of your child in order to receive BAH with dependents. I am not 100% sure how it works if he is not paying child support.

Unless he has custody of the baby 6 months and 1 day a year he will not get BAH, and you guys can live off base together but not on base unless you guys are married.
