It depends on the duration of labor, and pushing. I pushed for an hour and a half. It was exhausting! It didn't help that I didn't get to eat all day.

There's really no set number because labor is so different.

It depends on how long labor is, how long were you pushing, were you laying in bed or walking during labor, were you eating or drinking during labor or not allowed to eat, how strong your contractions were, how your body burns energy, etc....

My sister and I were just talking about this! She said during her child birth classes she was told about 50,000...but like other people said it depends on each labor because every labor is different!

I don't know exactly, but just imagine this.... Naturally, the uterus is a muscle. Muscles require more ATP to be burned to fuel their contractions. Pushing also requires muscles and depending on the length of actual labor, how many contractions are exhausted as well as how long and hard someone pushes, I can imagine... a lot.
