Choking on stomach acid at night. I Love Baby Camdyn Ross! 1 child; Killeen, Texas 22 posts

Im 33 weeks pregnant and for the past few nights my heartburn has been getting horrible. Normally my heartburn would start in the evening but eventually go away. I have had continuous non-stop heartburn for about 5 days now though and it never goes away. Well some nights ago, I propped my self up against the wall so it wouldn't be so strong and I fell asleep. I woke up later that night because I could not breath! I was choking! I thought about calling 911 because no matter what I could not breath. I ran to the bathroom and started coughing really hard and when I leaned over the toilet a ton of stomach acid ran out of my lungs. I continued to cough up stomach acid for about 2 hours. Its horrible! And this has been happening almost every night for quite some time. What should I do to make it stop? I've tried not eating, not drinking, and sleeping sitting straight up. It doesnt seem to help. Im pretty sure I have pneumonia or something now but Im not sure. Please help me!

I'm sure the stomach acid was coming from your esophagus/stomach, not your lungs. I had horrible heart burn also and the only thing that helped was Tums. I ate them like crazy.

I have taken Zantac, Tums, Prilosec, and now I take Pepcid which seems to calm it down a bit but not nearly enough. I really do think its coming from my lungs though. I doesnt feel at all like it is coming out of my stomach or esophogus. Just 2 nights ago I coughed up stomach acid until my throat bled. But the now I think I have pneumonia from having stomach acid run in to my lungs because the past couple of days I am really sick all day and I have a nasty cough. The main reason I think it was in my lungs is because I literally could not breath. I felt like something was plugging my windpipe. No air would go in or out.

Go to the doctor. You're more than likely just going to get opinions on here, not really legit medical advice.
