Hip Dysplasia in 9 month olds! MommyToPeyton&Sydney 2 kids; Alexandria, Virginia 6391 posts

Okay so my 9 month old had her appointment this morning and was sent to the hospital for a hip ultrasound. Her doctor said she MIGHT have developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) and I was wondering if any of you ladies have experience with this. Its usually detected shortly after birth but her pedi didnt notice it until today. I have read about what it is and stuff but i would love some personal advice from people who have had children who had it or if you know anyone who has had it. thank you!!!

They did that with my son. Turned out pediatricians are over cautious JIC. Generally they're fine.

Hey steph,

I saw your post.. and I heard about it from my neighbor actually.. If someone really is wrong, I know she would get a brace like kennith did for a bit..

Hope everything goes well for Peyton. We miss her!

Even if it turns out that your LO has it, it's relatively easy to correct as far as I've experienced with my friends and what the pedi told me when he suspected it in my LO. (Turned out to be nothing at the 2nd hip u/s). A friend of mine's daughter has to wear a brace 23 hours a day for a couple months to correct hers. The baby's only 4 weeks so I don't know if a 9-month-old would have to wear it longer.

Hopefully it turns out to be nothing though. Good luck!

They were worried about it in my LO. Pedi says everything seems fine though. We never got an u/s done.
I hope they can find a quick and easy fix for it!

For those of you who commented on this thread, thanks for the advice and kind words! My LO's pedi called this morning and the results came back normal. I am so relieved!
