so i am 39 weeks today and i went to the doctor and he said i am 4 cm dilated and 75%. He stripped my membranes and said it should only be a few hours before i go into hard labor and he would probably see me tonight.

What are the chances that i really will have my baby tonight. what are your experiences with getting your membranes stripped?

oops!

With my oldest I had my membranes stripped at 39, 40, and 41 weeks, and was induced at 42 weeks, delivered by c-section after 36hours of HARD labor (not counting the waiting around at the hospital part...i'm talking HARD labor.)

I had it done with my first and lost my plug the following morning and he was borning the morning after that ( had been in labour the whole night previous)
I had it done with my second which brought 2 days of annoying pre-labour contractions, then done again which put me into active labour on the spot - he was born 6 1/2 hours later.

I got mine stripped on my due date (against my wishes!) at about 9am. I went into labor a few hours later. I was in active labor at about 7pm or so. Then it took more than 4 hours of pushing and a vacuum to get her out. I believe that I wasn't quite ready to go into labor, but I did because of the stripping.

They stripped mine today. All I know is it hurt like hell! I thought I was gonna throw up on the table, and I almost started crying....
