I actually know that I probably won't come up clean from thc, nor will the little one. I didn't tell my doctor about it this time around for some stupid reason, and now I'm starting to get scared. I feel like a bad mother now because of all this crap I've been reading while researching the law in MN. I don't think the weed is going to have any negative affects, but I don't want to lose valuable time with my newborn if they take her. Hopefully it goes well. I know a lot of mothers that smoked the whole time and they still have their kids even though some of them probably shouldn't for other reasons entirely.

I knew a girl who smoked until she was about 7-8 months pregnant. She was sort of trashy, so her Doc had her concerns and tested her. Her doctor then told her she needed to quit asap because they WILL test her baby when he is born, and if MJ is found in the babies system they will take him from her. Sure enough CPS was waiting outside her door when she delievered. She BARELY quit in time, and her baby came out clean. They did not take her child. Although she was officially in the system.

I dont suggest smoking nearly that long for that reason, but if you quit smoking in plenty of time you will be fine. Especially if you quit when you found out or shortly after. No worries mama :)

I'm glad this issue was addressed because it's something that has plagued my own mind for a while. I'm 32 weeks right now and have just quit, and by just quit I mean today. I'm glad to read so many responses that aren't critical and are acutally accepting and encouraging. I've had a really hard time quitting, no marijuana isn't physically addictive, but I've smoked daily for 10 years, it helps my appetite and helps lull me to sleep at night and I've been guilt-ridden this entire time thinking that I'm a horrible person and that my baby would be taken from me if I didn't quit in time. I'm pretty sure that even if I slip a couple more times I'll still test clean when I deliver, and a lady at my doctor's office told me they wouldn't take my baby, the most they would do would be possibly making me take a parenting class, which isn't such a big deal but not really something I'd want to do anyways. Even though she assured me of this, I've still been paranoid about it all, so thank you to those who've answered this girls questions and putting both our minds a little more at ease.

I'm hoping I'm just paranoid about it. I've been told that they will test, but if its just "pot" they won't do very much if anything so long as they think my child is in a good home. I'm pretty sure that stressing it is bad for our little bundles, so we should both just kind of chill out and try hard not to slip up. I'm due in a month! I think I can get myself cleaned up, but not sure about the baby. Good luck!

I think they only do if your's or the baby's drug test comes up positive after delivery. It happened to an old friend of mine's sister just a few months ago, she's a minor too. She tested negative, but the baby tested positive. Not only was her baby taken away, but she was put in jail for it. As long as you quit early on, I'm sure your fine. I had actually quit for 2 years and started smoking again around the time I became pregnant with my son before I knew I was pregnant and then quit for good a couple months later. I told my doctor and nutritionist that I had smoked too. I admire your honesty and concern that it could have been harmful to your baby. Most women don't think it is and probably don't tell their doctors if they smoked, so we don't really know how many problems are associated with smoking weed during pregnancy. Your doctor will obviously see that you're a good mom for being honest and concerned about your child's wellbeing.

You have no idea how much better I feel knowing I'm not the only one, you have no idea how much you've brightened my day and probably bettered my mental well being for the remainder of my pregnancy. We stoners are in this together, lol, please let me know how things go once you've delivered, shoot, let me know how you're doing in the mean time, if you've slipped or what you might be feeling that'd make you crave it and slip. Maybe we can help each other out. :)

I'm also pregnant with my second child, when I was pregnant with my daughter me and my ex had constantly fought because let me just be honest I wasn't really happy being with him. So I smoked a joint bc we were always fighting and that was 3 weeks before I had my daughter, I didn't smoke anything after that and drank lots of water and when I had my daughter nothing was said. Now I'm married to the love of my life, my ex isn't even around in his daughter's life and I have custody of her and me and my husband are expecting a son in 4 weeks. I was smoking MJ but quit bc I'm afraid they will take my son but according to what you say Mrs. Sanders your sister had THC in her system and they did not take her baby and we both live in Texas. We live in a nice house and my husband works 7 days a week. I don't think they would take my baby but need some feedback from everyone here as to what you think bc there is still a chance that THC might not be out of my system by the time my son is born even though I quit. I was both a cigarette and MJ smoker and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I quit smoking cigarettes but the morning sickness I had was so bad I couldn't get out of bed so the MJ smoking still continued. If anyone has any judgement they want to pass on me keep your comments to yourself, God will judge me when my day comes. Anyone that has any helpful feedback please comment so I know what I have to look forward to when I have my child.

my older sister smoked MJ her entire pregnancy, every day, and stopped a month and a half before her due date so she would be clean when she had her baby. (without smoking she wasnt able to eat.) everything went fine. he was 7 pounds 4 ounces. now hes 3 years old and very smart and advanced. so dont worry, everything should be fine as long as your clean in the hospital.

I let my doctor know also. I don't know if they drug tested me or not without my knowledge but as long as you don't smoke within a month and a half or so before you deliver, you'll be fine. I honestly don't believe marijuana is harmful whatsoever, I quit because I don't want to deal with CPS honestly. I smoked because I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Smoking was the ONLY thing that helped me, literally. I wouldn't worry :D

alcohol is NOT harmless just because it's legal; it's way worse for you than marijuana

In Arkansas or at least at the hospital where I work, if a mother has a pos drug test Child Protective Agency will come take the baby. Also if your doctor has you pee in a cup at every visit they have the ability to send that for a drug test, and most likely will. I am not a fan of pot but to each there own.

Not that I smoke pot, but Alcohol is way more harmful then you seem to think. No one has died smoking pot, yet tons of people have died drinking. Alcohol will kill you if you drink to much, smoking weed will put you to sleep if you smoke to much.
