ERF would be extending the amount of time your child sits in the RF position. Meaning past 1 year and 20 pounds.

Rear facing is the safest way for any person to ride. And while its not an option for us adults, seeing as we have to drive, it's an option for children who sit in child safety seats and should be taken advantage of as long as possible.
