My SO has not come home yet, but he is STILL at his pre-deployment school. (He's already been gone for... almost 6 months?) but he wont be getting home until late 2011! Yeah he's gonna be gone forever. Anyway, he has been able to come home a couple times on holiday weekends. He left our son when he was 8 months old, and he saw him again on his 1st birthday, and again the weekend before last when my son turned 14 months. The first time he saw him, he DEFINITELY recognized him. He started squealing "DADA!" and squirming to get to him! It was amazing it made us cry lol... But the 2nd time, he didn't recognize him... He didnt want daddy to hold him :( It was really sad, and my SO cried... But I just had to keep us busy. We did things like went to the zoo, I let daddy feed him, and we played with toys at home to keep him busy and let Kieran get comfortable around him again. But within like a day he was back to normal with him.

And I do have a suggestion for when he comes home, have movies and stuff around for things to do. For my SO and I, its always weird when he comes home. We have sex, then dont really remember WHAT to do with each other... So dont worry that the "spark" is gone or whatever, just be prepared for things to be a litlte weird at first!
