I had my first NST at 41 weeks with my first child and was induced shortly thereafter.

I had my first NST at 38 weeks with my second because of decreased movement and had them weekly thereafter and he was born at 41 weeks naturally and healthy.

I didn't have one with my third or fourth.

I had my first NST with my son at 29 weeks. Had one at 30 weeks, and then was permanently attached at 31 weeks until I had him 5 days later. With my daughter I had one done at 36 or so weeks.

I HATE THEM!

From what my doctor says... (she explains thing kinda wierd but gets the point across) My uterine arties and viens arn't pumping enought blood so I have been taking baby asprin everyday to thin it. When I went in for my follow-up ultrasound to see if the asprin was helping at all it had only "fixed" one of the arteries. So the NST is to keep an eye on the arteries as well as the baby as the baby grows bigger.
