Quoting NewMamiSam:" Had my cerclage done yesterday and I'm feeling good. Now I'm wondering how the removal is going to be I never put much thought into it till now."

I'm starting to think about mine as well :? I've heard varying stories, but all of them typically say yeah it's uncomfortable but only for a minute. I wish we could get a little numbing action up in there! lol

I got mine out a week ago. The worst parts the speculum. That part hurt lol. But the same doc who put it in took it out too! So he knew where he put both stitches.

Moms with Cerclage and funneling...

I got a non emergent Mcdonald Cerclage at 16 Weeks Pregnant. 2 Weeks after my surgey they did a cervical check up, My cervix was at 3.4 ....
So my next appt was just yesterday, My cervix was between 2.4 and 2.6 with a little bit of funneling.. I am almost 21 weeks pregnant. I am so nervous. I lost my daughter last year at 19 weeks, so this is the highest week in pregnancy i have ever been in, and also my first Cerclage ive ever had placed... I just want to know if any other mammas with a cerclage out there have ever had shortening or funneling after a cerclage, and did your cervix lengthen afterwards or did it keep getting shorter? If you had funneling, did it ever stop? Also have any of you ever shortened down to the stitch? and what happened? how long did it hold like that?
My OB says all i can do wait because if anything happens before week 24 they cant help my baby... so im praying i make it to atleast 24... obviously id rather be full term but as long as he gets to live i will be happy.. For anybody who can help me with any answers or stories they have, wether the outcome is bad or good, i greatly appreciate it.. Thanks

....Sorry for all the questions, my brain is just in overload...

Oh and also forgot about the Dynamic Cervix which is kind of what you described. It fluctuates like crazy. You might funnel to 1.5 one day then go back to 4cm then back again. Funneling with a stitch can be dangerous and is def scary but it doesn't mean the baby will be here early. Are you on bed rest?

Yeah I am a firm believer in bed rest. My cerclage barely made it in. My doc said my cervix was so soft I kept tearing and so short he had to pull it to make it long enough to stitch. He didn't expect me to make it a week and I made it 22 weeks to removal! I didn't lose length but probably would have had I not been on strict bed rest. Just TRY (i know almost impossible when you are afraid) to stay positive!

Hello ladies :) I was diagnosed with ic with my last pregnancy when my water broke at 24 weeks and I had her at 25. Unfortunately she only made it 7 short hours :( I am pregnant again after only 7 months... And I've been scared to death the whole time. Thankfully I have made it to 22 weeks so far, but I've had a ton of complications.. Mainly just with random bleeding, I've already had to been hospitalized once over it. So far my cervix seems to be holding up, and my doctor said he didn't wanna do a cerclage ( even though I've been begging for one since like 12 weeks, sad I know lol ) . I've been on bed rest for about the past 4 weeks now. Doctor said I can get up and move around a little bit, nothing strenuous, but you might as well say I've put myself on strict bed rest, only moving when absolutely necessary. I live everyday in constant fear that the same thing that happened last time is going to happen again :( I spend most of my day counting kicks and such, praying nothing bad happens. I wish I could be one of the women that make it past 40 weeks, and yell and complain about it. Right now I'm praying we just make it to viability.

I hate when docs won't do something that can be so important like a cerclage!!!

Yeah... It is quite upsetting actually :( he says he doesn't wanna do one cause my cervix seems to be holding up " ok ". I just wanna scream " OK?!!! Ok is not good enough!! Especially considering last time my cervix was holding up " ok " and then it was like literally in less than a day everything just went down hill! :( " hubby says I freak out to much about everything and I just need to relax. It's kind of hard to relax when you live everyday in fear, everytime you use the bathroom you hold your breath and pray nothing bad comes out, every little ounce of discharge makes you wanna cry because you are so scared that " this is it ". Maybe I do need to learn how to relax, it's just so hard.

Yep that's the same thing I told the doctor. He said we will just keep a eye on things and pray for the best..... :( not a good feeling at all when you pretty much hand yours and your babys life over to someone who just says " pray for the best" when there is so many things he could be doing to help things

Let me tell ya...if it were me in your shoes I would have told him if you don't do it I will find a doc that will! Just because you lasted until 24 wks (before stuff began) doesn't mean you will. I actually went longer the 2nd time but with my last barely got the stitch in at 14 wks. I was 19wks the first time, 22wks 5 day the 2nd then with my daughter got my stitch in at 14 wks and there was barely anything left to stitch and it was soft. That right there shows how unpredictable this defect is!
