Quoting Chaotic Resolve:" I love this, Mel! I'm here to talk to for those of you who have been newly diagnosed or would just like ... [snip!] ... the progesterone shots with a few restrictions and would love to help with information in any way I can, provided I know it!"
I HAVE A CERCLAGE NOW CURRENTLY ON VAGINAL PROGESTERONE BUT WOULD LOVE TO GET SWITCHED TO SHOTS..I ALSO BE GETTING PAIN BUT IDK IF ITS NORMAL
Next pregnancy had those records and his associate said it was far worth the small risks of a cerclage when compared to my history. I cant say it was fun when I had labor on my due date that I TOLD them and pulled one stitch. YeeOW! but they wanted an extra 5 weeks. A lot of bedrest and suddenly next appointment they realized how big my daughter actually was! So they let free the cinch and induced Pictocin(another omg s***s YeeOw) labor and my 9.14 pound 24 inch long baby girl was born and thrived. Next pregnancy went swimmingly with cerclage though it was another one they wanted to cook well done. AS I went over my estimated due date waiting for theirs I developed gestational diabetes for last two weeks and had my older son 3 days after they removed stitches at whopping 11 pounds and 24 inches. I had to have a lot of bedrest. I was unexpectedly pregnant with twins one last time because my Ex didn't wait long enough with his vasectomy, but had nothing in place but while in the hospital a surgery was done.... I think a tvic? I never gave it a thought again until I dated a guy after divorce. I was on Depo 2 week away from 3rd shot, PP had suggested it as a way to control severe cramps I had had for 3 months (it was caused by my immature ovary developing and coming online. I had only one ovary working before that) I conceived my younger son FIRST TIME out of 3. *sigh* The OB at time was worried about any further damage to the neck and took it out early and had bedrest, but the pregnancy was actually a breeze because I had been competing athletically a short time before. After delivery he did a minor surgery to repair some of the damage and predicted I should have no problems (he actually said , well furtle murtle you can go have litters now if you should wish. Though at your age you may want to do so soon. I suggest birth control of some type when you finish nursing! He was familiar with us and a family friend.... hope he don't talk that way to reg patients >_<) I was pregnant again in the next year but was really unable to carry. Worked two jobs in assembly line with about 6 hrs sleep when lucky. Placenta previa was cause of that end, not cervix.
Not really trying to make a novel about me...my point is that one should not feel too hopeless.. Pregnancy 13- I was 30 years old. Pregnancy 17- I was 40. No supplements, herbals, or infertility measures.
Cerclage is not so bad though they sure load you up on the scare stories. I must say my first one, a McDonald I think, did some damage when it pulled thru. and I could feel EVERYTHING they were doing when they installed and removed them. Ugh even with no pain, it feels CREEPY!
Of course now contemplating children.. I am more worried. I can't imagine it being so easy this time. But my IC is the least on my list of worries ....
Omg I am so excited that you have took the time to reach out to some of the women who are suffering from incompetent cervix.. Because I am a sufferer didn't find out until I lost my first child @ 22 weeks on (2/11/13)... unfortunately my OB didn't even see it coming, ultrasounds were Great... Her heart had all the chambers, her growth was the way it needed to be, even her weight was a couple of ounces more but they didn't see it to be a problem... until 2/10/13 the early hours I started to bleed heavily and my ultra sound then discovered the my placenta had separated... How pain that was and still is to this day.... So thank you for your information it truly helped me in so many ways... R.I.P to my daughter Jasiyah mommy loves you boo....
But it was caught in time to where I was able to get
a stitch placed. The Dr. Told me I would be lucky to make it
To 24 weeks. I had to get steroid shots at 24 and 26 weeks.
And now that I have made it to 30 weeks. I am so hoping that
we can make it a few more weeks.

Hello Ladies, Currently 4 weeks pregnant! Got my BFP last week! I have two angel babies from IC! Really hoping I'll be able to hold this baby! I'm here for support, and to support everyone going through the same thing! I will keep you all in my prayers, please do the same for me :) I haven't seen my doc yet, but considering my history she has ordered me a sono(to make sure there is an heart beat, before cerclage is placed) which I scheduled on 10/22. And to F/U with her on 10/30 or before so we can have my 1st visit, and to also schedule my cerclage! I will keep you ladies updated! I have a long journey ahead of me! Add me as a friend so we can keep in contact, I very new to this site!
hi I am new to the site, just found out the i have a short/incompetent cervix. its a 2.8 cm when i lay but with compression(sitting ,standing ext.) its a 1.4 i am 26 weeks and 4 days, this has been decreasing since 22/23 weeks i couldn't get the stitch because i was to far along. i have been sent to L&D for the 2 steroid shots and been put on progesterone .and this week i have been put on strict bed rest , (luckily they are letting me do it at homed) do to it 's still dropping weekly and my cervix has dilated to a 1/2 cm, my dr keeps asking me if i am having contractions, i tell them the only thing i have been having is a hardness every now and then in my stomach but they say those are braxton hicks...to keep track of them .so just wanted to introduce myself and say hope all stays well :)
im 17 weeks and my cervix is effaced and opened about 1/2cm ...cerclauge can not be done now so the placed a pessiery in to help support my cervix ...this is my first pregnancy and im scared and have no clue of what to think....was hoping for some words of advice to help me through this
