8 Month Old Rocking Back & Forth... 624582 Neilton, Washington 9312 posts

I was hanging out with my friend today and she pointed out to me that her 8 month old daughter is rocking back & forth and she heard it's an early sign of autism. I don't know much about autism but I told her my best guess is that maybe she figured out how to rock back and forth? Is this normal...

At 8 months old, it's a sign of being 8 months old.

My son did that for a short while, I can't remember what age though. He has no signs of Autism and is 20 months old now. It was just something he figured out how to do for a while, but he doesn't do it anymore.

I've done it my entire life. It calms me down....(I know...weird) I'm not autistic, it's been labeled a "mild nervous tic" by my doctors. I guess I'm just used to doing it. I only do it when I'm anxious or stressed.
