My baby girl is 3 months old now and has been fighting a terrible cold (Peds diagnosed with a cold) for about 3 or 4 days now. She doesn't seem to be getting a high fever, but her cough and her congestion has gotten so much worse. She goes into coughing fits and has a hard time catching her breath.
Well, lastnight, she started coughing, and anytime she does, I wake up and listen for her, just to make sure she is alright, in this coughing fit last night, she couldn't catch her breath and stopped breathing.
I jumped out of bed so fast, I don't even remember getting out of the bed....I remember picking her up, and carrying her to the living room. WHen I got to the living room...she still hadn't caught her breath. Her poor little face was turning red. I started to pat her on her back, held her by her arm pits to elongate her so maybe she could catch her breath...that didn't work, so I started patting her on her back and blowing in her face and turned her on her side.
As soon as I turned her on her side, really thick mucus/spit started to drip from the corner of her mouth. I took her suction and sucked it out.....ONLY THEN DID SHE FINALLY BREATH FOR ME.....
That scared the f**k out of me....Out of the four kids, I have NEVER had to deal with a sick infant and it worries me so much with her being sick.
She ended up sleeping on her boppy (inclined) for the rest of the night in the bed with mommy and daddy. She has such a rough night coughing...but, after that incident, I think she slept better then mommy did...I was up with every sound she made....
I think we are going to be making a second trip back to the PEDS office today! Damn it, I want my child feeling better and am not leaving that office until I feel they have thoroughly looked her over!!!!!!!!!!!!
This morning, she is back to her smiley, happy self...still gargling when she breaths and coughing...but smiling, none-the-less.....
I am so sorry love! I really hope she feels better very very soon.
WOW im sorry that had to be one of the worst feelings in the world.. i cant imagine that..
I would take her back to the pedi and or Er... I hope everything gets better
OMG! I hope she gets better mama.
I am so sry momma I hope she feels better, have you ever tries the steam trick? I would use some saline drops for her nose suck out whatever you can get out then go into the bathroom and make your self comfortable, turn on the shower on the hotest setting and just sit in the room with the door shut with your lo the steam from the shower will help break things up and help it drian better also a nurse showed me how to do what she calls the horsey you cup your hands while your lo is laying on their tummy and gently tap on the back wil hands are cuped or even just holding her up right and rubbing her back in circles may help a little as well. I would definatly not put her on her back just because it pools all the mucus and it can build up and cause her to cough and choke keep her elevated or on her side as best as possible. Sry I hope she feels better soon
That would scare the living hell out of me. I'm sorry mama! I hope the PEDS help!
Use Salin drop's hun to clear up the conjestion. It does help but she might swallow some. But I hope she get's better.
