My son is 25 months old, I know he can't have cough syrup. I've heard about vicks vapor rub on the feet and then socks does that really work? and is that normal adult vicks vapor rub or like a kids version? I have seen homeopathic cough syrups at like whole foods stores that say ok for 2 year olds, anyone tried them? Do they work. Any other tips beside run the humidifier?
I would put the vicks right on him, the kids kind would probably be better, but in a pinch I don't think a thin layer of adult stuff would hurt, unless he has sensitive skin?
And if its really bad call your pedi they will advise you what you can use, I know some one who called and they were told they could use the kids Delsyum when their LO's cough was really bad (he was a little over 2 as well)
Good luck, hope he feels better.
a spoonful of honey is the best!
Otherwise, if it's from the nasal drip, sometimes pedi's will give you the proper dosage for an antihistamine to help with it, but don't do that without talking to the pedi first.
Quoting Chloe's Mom +1:
I tried some of the "all natural" cough syrups and they gave my son the WORST bowel movements ... EVER. So we stopped using that. We definitely do the baby VICKS on his chest, back and feet with socks. I finally brought it up to the DR and he told ME I could do the children's sudafed for 4 year olds just because of how big my son is (41inches and 44lbs at 2 years old) So maybe try calling the DR?
We have tried 2 natural cough syrups. 1 didnt do a thing for her and the other worked great! Warm apple juice and honey never have worked for us.
