But at the time you didn't notify police because once they were caught they said they would return/ pay back for those items and or money. Can you do anything when they start refusing to pay you back or return the items. My little brother has a stealing problem and has stolen tons of money from me and I have been promised over and over that I will get it back. At this point I am sick of waiting and since no one in my family is trying to help him, I would like to teach him a lesson. Is there any way I can get him in trouble with the police for this, or am I shit out of luck.

I THINK it depends on how long ago it happened and if you can prove it.

If they are items(and you can prove you owned them) you might be able to...but if it's cash probably not. The only way is to call when he does it again.

I have no contact with him anymore because I moved out so he will not be stealing from me ever again. It's not that I want the stuff back, I just wish he would get in some kind of trouble for the shit he does. My dad is treating him like a victim of himself and its starting to piss me off. He basically gets patted on the back when he gets caught stealing. I caught him red handed and he still denied it and my father tried to stand up for him.

YA that is good that it won't happen again. Unfortunately Him admitting to you that he did it don't hold much weight...because he can say he never said that when the cops question him.

What if I have witnesses of him admitting to it.
UGH it just makes me so mad that he is getting away with stuff like this.

Hearsay. that about it. My mother has stolen around $6000+ from me over the past 3 years. but the cops(when she took 1000 for my son's medical bills) said there is nothing i can do because she said she didn't take it and i said she did.

I want my money, and I want it within the next month. Simple as that, and if I don't then I will have to take further actions.

I was so annoyed by the conversation I didn't even realize he said "the things I took by mistake"...? You mistakenly stole tons of my money, dvds, food, basically anything that was left in our room.... lol yeah right
