Ratio for bleaching my hair. kthx. Due January 13 (girl); Cleves, Ohio 66665 posts

Okay.. I bought some things from Sally's to bleach my hair tonight. I bought a 1 lb tub of powder lightener, 16 fl. oz thing of 30V developer, and a brush and bowl.

On the directions for the powder, it says to do a 1:1 or 1:2. Is the 2 the lightener or developer? And which one should I use if I have black hair?

Secondly, the little cup thing I bought to mix it in, on one side it has a scale that starts at 2 and goes up to 6. On the other side, it has a scale starting at 50 and going up to 250. So if I do a 1:1, I'd use 2 (I'm assuming oz) of powder and 2 oz of creme, which would bring it up to the 4 mark, correct?

I've never done this on my own

Holy crap, that sounds complicated. I get mine done at the hair-college in town here. They haven't messed up yet and it's ridiculously cheap.

I just never trust anyone else to do my hair. I've had my hair bleached at a salon, and they didn't do it light enough.. so they basically had to put the same shade of dye back onto my hair.. and charged me $200.

Never again, lol.

What brand is the bleach?

I'm guessing the 2 is developer. You want more developer than you do powder. I usually do one scoop of powder and pour the developer until it looks the right consistency. You don't want it to be like you're splashing water on your head, but you also don't want it to look like you're putting a clump of playdoh in your hair lol. Make sense?

The bleach is Ion Color Brilliance. The developer is Salon Care Professional.

Yeah I know, lol. That's what my aunt does when she bleaches my hair. She just knows the right amount. but I don't :( I tried eye balling it for my sister, and almost burned her scalp. After 10 minutes, she was crying and her hair was white  LOL. So I reeeeally need to measure this time around

holy shit- you are using 30 Vol? and the way I do my ratios is just that...the decolorizer: developer...

so I'd do either equal parts, or 1 scoop powder, 2 developer...you get it... I have a feeling this won't end well...but I hope it does.

I'd do equal parts, then add the developer a little at a time until its about the consistency of pudding.

Yes, lol. My hair is so dark. It's what my aunt used on my hair a little white back when she bleached it.

omg lmfao, it probably turned white because she left it in too long, not because of you *trying to make you feel better xD* I usually use 40 though, because I like my hair BLEACH blonde. I have no professional experience... I just take chances!
