My daughter got over a cold almost two weeks ago, ever since then she's had a wet cough. Its worse at night and in the morning.
I took her to the doctor and he said nothing was wrong, she was just clearing out some mucous in her throat.
She usually has one or two coughing attacks during the night where if I sit her up and pat her back she's usually fine.
Last night she had a coughing attack, so I sat her up, patted her back and when I laid her back down she puked all over my pillow. The puke had a few lugies in it.

She stayed up for a bit and played then went back to sleep for 4 hours. She seems fine now.

Should I be concerned?
What can I do to help her cough?

I now some babies and children that do that. they get the mucus so far up but cant get it out so they get sick. its normal as long as she doesn't keep doing it

It has improved a little but not drastically.

Nothing to worry about. My SD does it when the mucus she is trying to cough up gaggs her. Keep her hydrated & she should be fine soon.
I just had my 2 at the pedi this morring, they have the flu :(

My daughter went through broncheolitis, and she would cough and throw up because the mucus in her throat would get caught and she'd gag on it...and yeah.

We took her in, and there was nothing they could do...except watch for signs of pneumonia. It took us about 4 weeks to get over the whole thing and all of it's side effects.

Poor baby. :(

thats how my sons coughs get EVERYTIME it is extremely rare for him to just have a normal cough, its almost always the cough spasms like that....poor kid takes after me....lol he would do this exact thing start at 2 months old, all i could do for him was sit him up and let him cough til he threw up......his doctor finally put him on zyrtec daily, about 6 months later we took him off of it fully and he was doing great but due to getting a sinus infection he is back on the zyrtec daily....i know that the throwing up is better than passing out like i did as a child.....my mom had to keep meds on her to cause me to pass out anytime a coughing spasm would start other wise i would cough til i passed out from not getting oxygen to my brain.......all because of allergies...
