I had a tooth pulled Monday, and I never remember (from my other wisdom teeth) it hurting this bad. What does a dry socket feel like?

the worst pain ever. when you take your tounge and press it against the area where your tooth was there should feel like there is a ball like clot that is healing.

painful as shit, for sure. other than that, youd have to see if you can look down into the hole, and see whats in there (or not)

I've never had one, but when we see patients that did they were in tears. You can call the office and they will probably have you come in. The Dr. will do a quick look and if it is, place some medication in the socket.

From what I"ve heard it hurts like a mother! I've never had one, thankfully, but it hurts real bad. My brother who has had a dry socket, says he couldn't feel the clot anymore and only bone. Kinda holey I guess. I have had extractions and they do hurt real bad..can be down right sore and painful. If it gets worse, I'd call your dentist and have them look at it to be sure. I myself have a dentist appt. to have three root canals done! BOO! Hope this helps. Didn't they precribe you anything for the pain?

Yeah, I have Vicodin, but it is barely touching it. I do not feel a hole, there is a clot there, so maybe I am just being a baby...

Well thats a little concerning that the vicoden isn't touching the pain..I know when I was on it after an extraction it did help out a lot..it still was really sore but it was manageable. I don't think your being a baby...its painful! lol Maybe you should have it looked at just in case. Hate to see you hit the weekend and have problems and be in extreme pain and unable to do anything about it. I know, just last week I had to go to the ER because I was in massive tooth pain, come to find out I had an abcess and need antibotics and pain meds. And it was on a Saturday!

I was just going to ask you in your other thread if you possibly had dry socket. If the vicodin is not helping, then you very well might have it. I would call the dentist and see if you can have it checked.
