Okay so I am scheduled to have a c-section oon Tuesday 3/29. I have forgotten to ask my doctor what type of pain medication they offer you or give you after you have the actual c-section and what they send you home with pain medication wise?? I am just trying to prepare myself, I have had almost every pain med out there for cronic back problem's, so I want to prepare babysitter/hubby for what kind of state I am going to be in weather it be sleepy or pain free and awake and not drowsy. Also I want to no if you can breastfeed while on your pain medication that will play a big role in weather I take it or not. Thanks lady's!

This.. and hydros.

You can BF and you will need to take it. Its a major surgery. It would only delay your recovery if you didn't.

Vicodin and Motrin and I was encouraged to breast feed :)

I didn't take my meds after day one, just the day of and night immediately after my surgery. I didn't want to become too accustomed. I was on morphine directly after, and that made me tired, but the pills didn't.

Also, my back pain got SO much better after evicting my son :)

I was on percocet and prescription ibuprofen.
Be careful though, in the hospital they dope you up like crazy and when I got home I thought I could handle the pain. I not only couldn't handle the pain but went through withdrawals because of how much they were giving me.

What type of withdraw were you on? And how long after or how many day's do they expect you to take or stay on pain medication?

Im not sure about anyone else, but I got a month supply and withdrawal was extreme agitation after both pregnancies. After my first, I thought I was just losing my marbles, after my second, I realized it was withdrawal from the percs...everything would piss me off ridiculously.

Thats exactly why I stopped taking my pain meds right after. They're highly addicting and people don't really understand or realize that. I have NO idea why any doctor in their right mind would prescribe something so strong and so addicting for that amount of time. The sooner you stop taking the meds, and the sooner you get up and walk and move around, the better you heal and the less dependent you are on the medications.

I did great physically while taking the meds. Could get up, take care of my kids, get the house clean...on very little sleep, but its not worth the crap when you stop taking them. Psycho mommy mode, not fun.
