Ok, I am 11 wks prego tomorrow... ever since I found out that I was pregnant, i have not been able to get a good night's sleep. I thought that not sleeping wasn't supposed to come until I got big and uncomfortable! In the beginning I thought that maybe it was anxiety or excitement about my first doc appt. I attended my appt and asked my doc about why I hadn't been able to sleep thru the night. She told me that it was normal and that the baby was probably taking my sugar, making my sugar count low, making me wake up. She suggested that I have something sweet before bed. It still doesn't help! I've even eaten a pinch of plain sugar! In the beginning I would have to take a 3 hr nap in the middle of the day because I couldn't sleep at night. Now, I feel a little more energetic after work, but suring work I am exhausted. I usually go to bed around 9:30 and get up for work at 4:30 am. I usually wake up at least 4 times throughout the night. Two nights ago I woke up 7 times (4 times between 1 -2am)! I never hit that "deep sleep" stage, ya know. It's like a series of naps. Anyone else have this problem so early on in their pregnancy? What can i do to get some sleep?!?
i am the EXACT same way. Im 12 weeks now and I still cant sleep to save my life. I wasnt a good sleeper to begin with, ive never made it through a night with out waking up but since I got pregant its been worse! And my doc told me the same thing as yours...eat a small somethng before bed. Well it didnt help. Before I was up and down at least 10 times a night between not sleeping and throwing up...but Im not really sick at night anymore but im still up and down not sleeping.
When you find the solution let me know!! Im so tired during the day its not even right!!
I have had the same problem on and off. When I firstthought Icould be pregnant- Itook the test at3AMbecause I couldn't sleep- I didn't sleep much after that. I was up either using the bathroom or just couldn't get back to sleep.Tomorrow I will be 19 weeks and it has gotten better. I still wake up about once a night for a half hour or so. ( I think it's because I like to sleep on my tummy and now it is getting to big for that) :D
My mom told me to try drinking some warm milk.. It helped or I turn on the tv it puts me right to sleep... Also when I feel tired I take a nap or just go to bed early. Sometimes it is 8pm other times I am up until 11.. Just listen to your body-when you feel tired sleep!
Its not that unusual. Youll be able to sleep all day long in the coming months. LOL I stay exhausted but when bed time comes i cant sleep and im up 6 or 7 times. But I am also 31 weeks, big, and uncomfortable.
But when i was 11 weeks i was like you. give it til about 14-16 weeks and youll be sleepin like a ... well, baby. LOL
Then once you hit 26-28 it will start again with the uncomfort and youll be up to pee every 30 mins. LOL It just comes with the territory.
My best advice... it so just take off a couple weeks before ur due date (if u are working) and try and catch up on ur sleep a bit. Lounge around... eat watch tv and nap. LOL Youll need that rest for when ur baby arrives.
Ive pretty much realized that I will never get a good nights rest again... not until my son is ... 5 or 6 anyway. LOL
A nice hot (not too hot) bubble bath works wonders , with some candles... and bath salts.. and if you have someone to rub ur back or Lofah you while ur in there. Oh its heaven. LOL Ive been trading my orgasms in for bath tub back rubs for 8 months now. LOL
Im lucky if i dont fall asleep in the tub
Thanks for the replies ladies! I plan on taking half days at work right before my due date. (I'm military so I only get so much time off)
As for the warm milk thing - I tried it... it didn't work for me! My hubby usually sleeps with the ceiling fan on and the TV on a volume of 18... I've tried sleeping with the fan of, the tv lower, and even the tv off. NOTHING has helped! It's just so frustrating!

yeah, I have some Tylenol PM stuff, but I usually only take 1 capusle instead of 2 because I am not in any pain and because I am still in my first trimester. The doc said that Icould take it safely, but I just don't want to risk anything. Maybe I'll look into the Simply Sleep...
