I'm currently 12 days postpartum and lately at night I've been getting cold chills. I do breastfeed and pump, but I also supplement formula. At first I thought it was because maybe it's my body reacting to pain? Is it normal to get cold chills this late postpartum? I'll get out of bed and be really cold and bundle up in sweats and extra blankets and sit in the bed shivering until I usually fall asleep.
Could it be the hormones that are trying to adjust? I had hot flashes really bad after.
It's normal. It happened to me for a couple weeks postpartum. Just your bodies hormones going back to normal.
Don't mean to freak you out but 10 days PP I got bad chills and then developed severe hospital acquired pneumonia. Check your temp to make sure you don't have a fever. Even low grade, if it is, call your Dr. ASAP.
They ignored my low grade fever and chills and sent me home. I ended up being rushed in 3 days later by ambulance with a 104 temp and a heart rate of 150.
Just be cautious.
It doesn't really happen during the day time and I have been formula feeding her at night so she sleeps for longer periods, so I was thinking it was due to my breasts. I'll have to find a thermometer and keep an eye on it.
Should I breast feed her if I have a fever, would she be okay? Or should I pump and dump?
Quoting Mommy to Paige:" I'm currently 12 days postpartum and lately at night I've been getting cold chills. I do breastfeed and ... [snip!] ... of bed and be really cold and bundle up in sweats and extra blankets and sit in the bed shivering until I usually fall asleep. "
I'm almost 5 weeks pp and I had the same problem until I started wearing a bra to bed. I'm breastfeeding also and I think the leaking had something to do with it because once I started wearing a bra they stopped leaking and it went away completely.
