My 4 week old son.. sounds congested not all the time.. but when he moves around he sounds like it and especially at night when we are sleeping.. I have tried useing the nasal syrienge to clear it out and it aint working! Is it normal for newborns to sound like this?! Im worried he is sick.. He dont have a runny nose, fever, or anything.. and he still has his appetite.. I took him to the doc and he said that he seemed okay but this doc is new to me.. So im just wanting to be on the safe side! I have noticed his right eye sometimes get a lil gunk in it and im freaking out that this is an infection or rsv or something!

I can't recall with my previous children, but my most recent baby (7 months old now) did sound like this a lot after she was born, and more so after feedings!

:!::!:

My pedi said there may still be a little stuff up there and it takes times for their nostrils to completely open. My LO still snorts on occasion lol

Is it just nasal congestion or in the chest as well? My LO was stuffy a lot in the nose... she would make this oinking noise when she cried sometimes lol. Their nostrils are so tiny that one little booger will make them sound so stuffed up. Saline drops work wonders though, one spray and she would sneeze out the booger in no time.

Lol same here. That and when she is crying and really upset. I secretly think it's kinda cute and laugh when she does it.

I have the little noses brand... it is just salt water so it is fine to use as needed. The first time I used them I freaked out because it made her cry, it doesn't hurt them it just feels weird. I played around and squirted the bottle to get the right pressure to squeeze before I actually tried it on her, kwim? You put the tip right by their nostril and squeeze lightly... some might go down his throat and make him cough a bit but no worries. A few sneezes later and you will be surprised at what comes out of his nose. I hate using the bulb syringe because I feel like it irritates her nose, but with the saline drops the boogs come out on their own and if not, it loosens everything up so that the bulb syringe works better. HTH!

yea I ended up getting the swaddle blanket!! though they didnt have the preemie size so I got the newborn.. (figured he would be in it no time) it says 7lbs and up he is a lil under that so im goin to wait a few to use it.. though I didn put him in it and he is so adorable. but it is a really warm blanket and with summer comeing up (hell just spring) its hot in my house!

awww, lil' peanut :)

One of mine shrunk so bad I can't use it anymore... I never use the fleece one because she gets too hot in it even though it isn't that warm in my house. I'm the same way though, get hot very easily when I sleep. The ones I use are like t-shirt material. My LO got her 2 month shots today and has been sleeping ALLLLlllll day. Woke up to eat and went right back down.

My stupid dog ate my bottle of Little Noses saline spray, so we need to restock LOL.
