Red Kool-Aid...? Barefoot Lady 2 kids; Los Angeles, California 1294 posts

Does anyone know exactly what the risks are or how bad Red #40 (artificial color) is? Red Kool-Aid is the ONLY liquid I can keep down, and it's chock full of the stuff-- plus about 2 million other artificial ingredients. Nice.

I drink it SUPER watered down... and believe me, if there was ANYTHING else on earth that I could keep in my stomach, I'd drink it instead.

Alas, it seems to be Red Kool-Aid or bust. I just wanna know if my baby will be born glowing in the dark or something now?

From what I understandm all that jazz about red dye is all done and overwith. why cant you keep anything down? morning sickness? i know this might not work cuz it wasnt morning sickness, but, my MIL had cancer and was going through chemo, and couldnt keep ANYTHING down...except for gatorade. its worth a try, right? every time i had belly problems, i would drink room temperature ginger ale and crackers. try to stir some of the carbonation out of it first. hope you feel better soon.

Whatever you can keep down, at least you're staying hydrated. Hopefully it will pass and you can make it up with all the healthy stuff later on... At least that's what my doctor told me.

And you'd be surprised what's bad for you and the amount of products out there with those bad things.

Good Luck

Thanks guys.

Yeah, it's morning sickness. Food is getting better, but liquids are the worst. They pop right back up. I've tried gatorade, vitamin water, every type of juice, gingerale, and pregnancy-approved herbal tea I can get my hands on. I'll give Pedialyte a shot, too (don't they make a dye-free clear flavor?).

I'm glad to hear some of you guys "drank the Kool-Aid" too. If our babies end up glowing, maybe we can form a new forum for Moms Of Phosphorescent Red 40 Babies.

Yes, they make a clear Pedialyte. I had the worst morning sickness with my son....almost 4 months long, all day long, every single day and night. I drank Ensure. The vanilla was the best tasting one to me. I was able to keep it down, and it gave me back all the vitamins I was missing out on by getting sick. The good thing is, morning sickness doesnt last through the whole pregnancy. If you go past 3 months, tell your doctor...they have meds they can give you specifically for that...to help stop it. Take care.

My friend is in her 5th month and still getting sick! But she didn't start until she hit 10 weeks. Anyone experienced that?

I just hit 10 weeks today and still no signs of it, I hope I passed it up.
