Second labor pain compared to first. ♥ ♥ 2 kids; Stevensville, Michigan 6993 posts

I was induced at 37 weeks 2 days with my son and the pain was terrible. I got an epidural and shortly after I had to start pushing and I felt everything so I really didn't get a break. I was 3 centimeters dilated at 6 am and I had him at 9:28 am that morning. I was just wondering was the pain the same with your second labor? Was it less painful?

I wish my labor was like that. I started having painful contractions with my first less than 2 hours after they put the cytotec in my cervix. It was awful.

I was much more relaxed the second time around, so I went longer without the epidural.

My first labor was 14 hours, about 12 of which I had an epi.

Second labor was 12 hours, 10 of which were med-free.

I wasn't induced but I felt the pain was about the same. My second labor was just super short. Well, my first was short but not as short as my second lol.

I've read that labors that are induced are far more painful than labors that are not though. And cytotec is supposed to be pretty intense.

My 1st was more painful, I'm not sure if it's because she was a whole pound bigger than my son but my contractions hurt from the start of labor and were EXTREMELY intense after my bag broke. Luckily it was only about 7 hours long and I got an intrathecal :) With my son, I wasn't even quite sure if I was in labor or not. I had tons of BH for weeks, then the day before my scheduled induction I started having contractions that wouldn't go away so I figured I'd just go in. When I checked in at the hospital I was already at 5-6 and my contractions weren't bad at all, I was walking and talking up until the nurse broke my water  Then they were intense like they were with my 1st, I contracted that way for about an hour before I finally got my shot. Right after I got my shot the nurse checked me and was like "oh he's coming down already!" So I was numb for nothing! I was in labor with my 2nd for about 6 hours

My second was way more painful but I think it was because it was faster. My first labor was only 10 1/2 hours long all natural at 42 weeks 1 day . And my second was 4 hours long also natural at 41 weeks 3 days!! I can remember looking at my midwife the second time around saying " this hurts worse" Meaning worse then the first time and she tolled me because I was progressing faster . The funny thing was I was so much alert the second time around then the first ..i swear I was in a daze my first time but I was fully aware the second time.

way more intense. I'm glad I had a short labor and the first two hours were a breeze because i think i would have hurt someone if it was any longer lol!!
