"rash" only on p***s/scrotum Flores_party_of_7 20 kids; Seattle, Washington 17095 posts

First of all... I just realized how much I hate the word 'scrotum'. Just sounds... ugly. Second... it's not really a rash, but my 2 year old's p***s and balls are bright pink, and seem to really be hurting him. It's been this way for 3 days now, and I've been coating it with Triple Paste, which always works AMAZING for diaper rash. We normally cloth diaper, but due to my pregnancy, I've been puking and unable to rinse his dipes, so I started using disposable again. I bought some cheap ones (drugstore brand) that I'd never used before, and within a week or so, this started. I went and bought him Pampers, which we've used most of his life, and it's still not clearing up.

Could it be a yeast infection or something? Or would that rash be on his bum as well? I don't *think* he has thrush in his mouth... however, my nipples hurt like hell when he latches on (which I know is a sign of thrush). My nipples are super sensitive anyway because of the pregnancy, so I'm not sure if that's the problem...

If it seems like it's hurting him, I would bring him to the pedi. Could be bacterial.

I'm wondering if that's something that Urgent Care would be able to deal with. I feel bad making him wait through the weekend to see his actual pedi...

That happened to my youngest son and he went to the drs. and got prescribed some kind of cream for it.....it was 5 years ago so i dont know where to begin to tell you what cream it was lol.......if diaper cream isnt working after 3 days then he needs to see a dr.

I would take him to dr's as well, especially because it's affecting you as well.

Happened to my son... HIs urine was really concentrated and it was causing that.... I put him in a cool bath and pushed ice water and a day later it was gone.

sounds like the same problem I had with my first son. His urine was so concentrated that if I didn't change his diaper soon after he would go he would become really irritated. I tried everything, including balmex, destin, and even the old wives tales of cornstarch and baked flour... The only thing that work was A&D ointment (it is recommended for burns and our pedi said it is great for diaper rash)!! He was definetly right. It is now the only thing I use on my younger son and will use it with this baby when he/she arrives.

Thanks ladies. Maybe I'll finally use that on call number for my pedi...lol. It's a small practice (she's a naturopath), so there's no nurse's line or anything.

My friend's son had yeast and it started on his p***s. Was bad looking, because it made the tip of his p***s swell a little.
