Pinched Nerve...do they really hurt this bad? iLL-Legal Unicorn Alien 3 kids; New York, TX, United States 37137 posts

Long story short, like 4-5 weeks ago I woke up with this horrible (sharp) pain in my back...as the days passed it moved to my right hip, it is really bad pain (and I have a high tolerance for it) to the point that I'm often having to hold on to something and catch my breath while I'm walking...I can't bend down, or pick up my kids without almost crying...I went to the doc last week and he said that he thinks it's a pinched nerve, I asked for X-Rays because 5+ years ago I had a pelvic stress fracture when i was in the Army, the X-Rays didn't show anything (but then again x-rays rarely show stress fractures) the doc put me on naproxen and told me to wait it out...it's been 10 days since I started with the naproxen and I feel like it hasn't helped at all...the pain has gotten worse..but it's a lot worse in the morning as soon as I wake up...usually by the end of the day I feel a lot better. So yeah my question...do pinched nerves really hurt this bad?

YES! yes they do. There were mornings where i couldn't even put pressure on my right leg and had to wait it out.

Yes! I would suggest seeing a chiropractor.

Mine lasted a full month. A VERY long month where I couldn't look after my kids or even pee with out using a handicap toilet raiser seat.

BEST stretch I did (because stretches and drugs were all that helped) was to lay on my back, put one leg straight, bring the other knee towards my chest and then turn it so my foot is sort towards the other leg. Grab that ankle and pull it towards my head. This stretches the back of the leg, butt and lower back.

Another good one is to do pelvic lifts/raises. You might be able to find a video on youtube, but basically it's pulling your crotch toward your face lol

I don't have insurance and called around and paid $54.00 out of pocket to see one last week because of the same pain but more so in my neck/shoulder. She popped me back into place and did acupuncture/acupressure and I slept like the dead for the first couple night and normal after that and the pain went away. UNTIL I went boogie boarding this weekend and fucked my body up again. Stupid on my part.
