Possibilities? Tubal Pregnancy? Michelle Von Frankenstein 17 kids; Palm Springs, California 10493 posts

I need some advise and possibilities...
A woman found out she is pregnant unexpectedly. She went in to confirm with a blood test which came back positive. She started bleeding so the OBGYN then decided to do a serum pregnancy test and her HCG level was at around 169. A few days later they did a repeat one and her level went down to around 80. They told her there is a chance of miscarriage, but they were going to do another repeat test. The level came back at 200. They decided to do an ultrasound but could see nothing so they told her maybe you are just super early. So this week they decided to do another repeat test and her levels went over 500.

She was able to get a positive on a home pregnancy test and when I was 5 weeks pregnant my HCG levels were over 25,000....

what could be causing this... is she just super early or does this sound like a tubal pregnancy or what?!?!?!

PLEASE & THANK YOU!!!

I have never heard of levels going up and then down. I hope everything works out though. Maybe it's just too early. Or could she possibly have been pregnant with twins and lost one? God I don't know. I'm just throwing ideas out there.

They didnt go up then down. She was at over 100 and she started bleeding so the OBGYN thought she could be miscarring so they did the serum test to check her levels and they went down which was a bad sign. However about 2 or 3 days later he re-tested her to see if it was for sure a M/C and he levels and went up.

lol. If you read, she clearly stated that tho other womens hCG levels were low and her hCG levels were 25000, so why is hers low..lol Why would somoene lie about a tubal preg. I mean I could understand abortion, but tubal preg? lol Your silly.

Yeah, sounds kind of like an ectopic pregnancy. The levels with ectopic irregular... But at 5 weeks, levels can be as low as 18.

exactly...
I was stating tha since she got a positive at home pregnancy test which usually you dont get a positive unless your 4 weeks or so and when I was 5 weeks I was way above even her 500 mark.
I dont want to use her name or anything until she allows me to talk about this exact issue because she is very worried and we are just trying to get some answers!!!

thats what we are afraid of. What is the chance of a successful etopic pregnancy? Is there a way to know for certain if thats what it is?!!?

They would be able to see the baby if it were in the tubes using an ultrasound. Whenever I have had an ultrasound, even though I have never had a tubal pregnancy, they always checked my tubes and ovaries on the ultrasound. Just kind of checking everything out. Sounds like she needs another ultrasound if they didn't check everything out last time.

I really have no clue, but I doubt the success rates are very high.

There is no successful ectopic pregnancy, they have to be terminated.

That is false. I actually watched a documentary of woman in Europe who had a successful pregnancy. They had to deliver her early of course....at like 5 or 6 months if I remember correctly. Because of her success it is stated that men can actually carry babies since it is possible for them to successfully grow outside of the uterus. At the end of the documentary it said that a dozen or so men volunteered to be "test subjects" but that no doctor would do the procedure. (They would implant a fertilized egg into the male....when it was time to deliver then do a surgery to get the baby out) I can try to find a link to the story if you would like??
