Face wash while pregnant.. KayleeKakes 1 child; Arizona 79 posts

Okay so I'm 15 weeks pregnant today and have just read that it's not safe to use facewash while pregnant, especially with salicylic acid in it. Well I have been using Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash all throughout my pregnancy and it has salicylic adid in it because my face has broken out so bad during my pregnancy. I'm kind of freaking out right now! Does anyone else know anything about this??? Did anyone use face wash with salicylic acid in it while pregnant? I'm going to stop using it today but am just hoping that my baby will still be okay!

I wasn't aware of that.

I used Clean & Clear blackhead scrub throughout my pregnancy...my daughter is perfectly healthy.

I've heard of that but not sure about how true it is. I used that same stuff when I was pregnant with LO and she was fine...BUT last year I switched to Benzoyl (sp?) peroxide acne wash and it works MUCH better. Maybe try that?

Ok this thread got me curious and From what google tells me it can cause miscarriage in VERY RARE cases... when used too much.

Ive been using Clean and Clear Advantage pmpile cleanser which has salicylic acid in it and Ive had no problems so far except that even while religiously using the product daily it hasn't cleared everything up lol my midwife and doc both said it was fine to use it while pregnant

Accutane is a huge no-no, it's been known to cause birth defects, but I think any kind of regular mild facewash is fine. The only thing I've heard related to this is scrubs, like that St.Ives apricot scrub, I used to use that, but I read in a few of my books that it's better to use a facecloth for exfoliation. I can't totally remember why, I think it's something in the scrubs, not sure... I switched to a washcloth and mild foamin cleanser instead, I found that St.Ives left a film on my face

The face wash I have been using is a scrub :/ do you remember what you heard about scrubs? and yeah I know that Accutane is definitely NOT safe for pregnant women lol. I remember my sister used to take it and on the bottle it had a picture of a pregnant woman with a big red slash through it. I'm not sure what to use on my face now though. I heard Cedefil (sp?) is really good and pure, but now I'm kind of scared to use anything.
