My son has had his since he was 2.5 & he has never dove off the top.. and he's a daredevil. The most he has done is jumped from the second to bottom step lol.

We just got a bunk bed as a gift so we're going to set it up later in the week. I just plan on leaving the ladder off so my son will just have access to the bottom bunk. He's going to be 3 on the 26th so i think it should be fine.

I waited until my boys were 7, as being twins they can have pretty brutal fights. I always worried they'd push each other off the top. If it was a single child or calm children I would do it around 4.

I would not allow my kids to have one before the age of 4-5.

If I can't trust them alone with it, they don't need to have it.

We're about to buy DS a bunk bed (full on bottom, twin on top, with drawers underneath) and he's 3 1/2. You could try blocking off the top bunk so she can't climb up, if you're that worried.

like the day beds too, where theres a bed that pops up from the bottom, but then she would just have a twin.

do you have a twin for your toddler, or a full? i feel like if we buy a full she will have it FOREVER. she has a queen now but its too big she wont even sleep in it alone... and takes up a lot of room.

ugh. spending $500+ on a bed i wantto make the RIGHT choice. blah

A trundle bed? I had one as a teenager and I hated it. There was never enough room to pull it completely. I think a bunk bed would be a better option.

My two year old is still in her toddler bed. Soon I'll take the rail off and it will be a day bed. And when she's probably around 3.5 or so I'll convert it to a twin or a full. I have the choice of either with the frame but it will probably be a twin, because that's all one kid really needs.

I was fine in a twin until I was 16.. then I moved up to the big bed when my older brother moved out and I got his full size bed.

My son has twin bunkbeds & our 7 y/o nephew stays with us and he is fine in the twin as well. They both have plenty of room.

Quoting LysW:" do you think a twin is sufficient? LOL i feel like such an idiot.. like, when shes 10 will she want a bigger bed or a twin okay then? "

I slept in a twin until I turned 18. I'm taller than average and I did just fine. LOL. She might WANT a bigger bed at some point, but she won't NEED it. It's not like she'll have anyone sleeping in her bed with her.
