Its been awhile since i have posted anything but I need some advice from parents. My almost 3 year old woke up this morning screaming and crying that her neck hurts. So I tried everything a band aid to try and claim her down, ice pack and then gave her some Tylenol. Sent her to school my mother in law works at daycare and she said that she was crying all the way to school didn

I would definitely take her in, mama. Especially since there's a fever. Hope she feels better!

Take her in right away.
I'm not trying to scare you and odds are she's okay, but that is a big sign of meningitis.

(Sorry, I completely scanned over the part where you already mentioned meningitis. I'd still take her in though)

the fever is at about 100 with her on meds but I feel so bad for her and her neck, I just dont wanna look silly taking her in a couple hours after the doctor appointment.

the doctor said that its nothing to worry about because her fever is not that high and she looks fine other than her neck. Could she have slept on it funny causing this?

If the fever gets higher I would go in, but I would leave it as a neck sprain until that happens. I would hate to put my kid thru a spinal tap unless the doctors thought it was ness. I would just be checking her temp every hour.

:!: Sounds like meningitis. I'd go to the ER and have her checked personally.

My daughter sprained her neck really bad once. Had me so worried. But it was just a neck pain.

They tested her for everything, but not a spinal tap becasue she had no fever.

Sometimes necks just hurt. She could have slept wrong and gotten a crick in it or something.

Meningitis is the first thing that popped into my head. Try to keep her isolated it sucks yes, but it's so contagious you wouldn't want your kids or any other kids getting it.. So sorry mama... hope everything goes well.

Yes, I did this at 18 and cried like a baby for about 2 days. I honestly was in so much pain just because I slept wrong.

I would think that since babies and toddlers are so flexable that no matter how they slept that it would not cause this much pain. She wont lay down she crys and says it hurts. I just feel so bad :(

is there anything I can do to relieve the pain? The doctor said a little but of icy hot and I did but she screamed bloody murder for 30 mins and I barely touched her neck.

IDK. You're already giving her pain meds for the fever right? That SHOULD help with the pain. If she's really in that much pain I say go to the ER. Good luck momma. I hope she feels better soon.

yes I am and alternating with motrin every 4 hours. She has her head tilted alittle like she is holding a phone between her ear and her shoulder. She has not moved her neck in like 4 hours. She wont look up or down left or right, she will move her eyes as far as she can and thats it.
