I don't know, but this just made me realize that I haven't had hiccups since I got pregnant.

I feel your pain. I kept the hiccups when I was pregnant. You're not causing them. Your body is though. When your pregnant your body releases a hormone that relaxes your joints and muscles so your hips can spread for baby's head. The problem is, it relaxes ALL your muscles. Including your diaphragm which is what's causing your hiccups. That's how my OB explained it to me. That's also why they caution pregnant women to be careful stepping off curbs, using a computer, and stuff because it's really easy to sprain your ankle or get carpal tunnel while pregnant.

I hiccup all the time, been going on for 10yrs. It used to be really bad, like Id hiccup 3 times in a row every 20 minutes, all day (even while sleeping, and yes I did wake a lot) My hiccups got better after my surgery, so they think it was related to my heartburn... Do you get heartburn a lot?

It could be the muscles being relaxed then... I got pregnant after my surgery, so I didnt get them more often from relaxed muscles... Not sure how common that is, but a few ladies said that could be it.
