rock n play sleeper vs bassinet Matt & Autumn's Mama 2 kids; Georgia 532 posts

I'm having a c-section on September 30th. I had a section with my first child and ended up recovering on the couch for a while cause it hurt too bad to lay down in my bed. With my son we had a pack n play that he slept in during my recovery and during the day. DH was around at night to help get the baby out so we could feed him and change his diaper This time I'll be by myself with the baby cause DH will have to be there for our son who sleeps with us in the bed. So I'm looking for something that I could access easily while I recover and something that will get lots of use.

I really like the Fisher Price Newborn Rock n Play Sleeper, but I'm worried about the whole flat head thing and Torticollis thing. I love it cause it's just the right height to have by the couch for easy access and it's very portable for trips around the house and grandma's.

Then I found a very pretty pink bassinet that has a mobile, music/sounds, vibrations and storage underneath. I think it would get more use than the rock n play sleeper, but its a lot taller, so I'm not sure about easy access, it's bigger than the other, not as portable and more money.

WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY? She has a crib in our room that I want to get her into as soon as possible so she won't get use to something else and we have trouble transitioning. My son didn't like his crib after a few months and now at 2.5 yrs is still sleeping with us and she'll have no choice but her crib. Thanks so much :]

I bought the rock and play sleeper and LOVED it! My reasoning's are different than yours as to why I purchased it. My eldest was 20.5 months old and I didn't want her grabbing him from the bouncer/rocker's that sit on the floor so I saw this and it was a great advantage to have since she could see in but not able to grab him.
Defiantly something I do not in the least regret purchasing.
(I did try and use it at night but he ended up bed-sharing and still does even though I have the crib side-car right next to our bed)

here is a cute pic of him in it

I am going with the Rock and Play I worried also about the flat head issue. I got to thinking about the cases how can it be PROVED that is what caused it as far as we know it might have happend to the baby any way. Also I think if you pick your baby up every now and then this might help too - how long were these babys left sitting or laying in the sleeper? Those were just a few of my reasons for going for it! GL with your decision!

:!::!::!:My son was in it from birth to 5 months quite a bit and his head is perfectly fine. We stopped using it when he started pulling himself up hehe!

Exactly! My thoughts are the cases were so few that the ones who did end up with the issue were prob going to have it regardless! I am NOT worried about letting my baby girl lay it everyone I know who used it loves it!

I am letting my friend who just had a preemie baby (hes like 2 week adjusted but was born 6 weeks ago) use it. She loves it! I have only heard positives from it to! It was really nice to have and folds fairly flat so I could stick it against the wall and not take up a lot of space. My eldest lived in the bouncer pretty much haha where my son never really used it.

It is good to hear from someone else who loves it. You pretty much summed up why I like it, its portible, compact, light, no where near as large as a bassinet..

Thank you ladies for the input! I'm a review mama and i've read several about the rock n play. I too think the babies affected maybe were left too long in the chair or maybe already a pre-exsisting condition. I read one review that said that Torticollis can start in the womb from being in the wrong position for a long time.

yup! I brought it on a trip with me and it hardly took up any trunk space!

I bought both the rock n' play sleeper and a bassinet. I really wanted the sleepr but DF was set on getting a bassinet. So what we decided was to leave the bassinet in our room and use the sleeper in other rooms. My little boy is not here yet so I can't really give any reviews lol
